Qualitative Participant observation was a significant approach to establish the rationale of increasing physical activity in high school students. Providing breaks throughout the day can improve the student’s classroom behavior and attentiveness. It would be observed students’ demonstrated great inattentiveness as the length between recess periods increased. Such is a clear indicator thattiming of the recess is very significant (McDonald, 2007). Students were observed to exhibit higher rates of on-task behavior in class when provided with at least 15 minutes of recess. Observations area better form to gather evidence as they provide first-hand information. Information from observations is reliable (McDonald, 2007). However it is time consuming as it requires the researcher to be physically available. Individuals may behave differently in the presence of a researcher and this may distort the expected results. In depth interviews conducted with the training staff highlighted various strategies of increasing children’s levels of physical activity. Provision of inexpensive playground equipment encouragesstudents to be active. Such a finding suggests that providing low cost equipment can subsequently help increase the physical activity. It also pointed out that training recess supervisors would teach new games and interact with the students increase physical activity. Interviews are expensive to administer. The approach to gather data takes time. Focus groups comprised of high school students and were engaged to establish their opinions on the subject. It comprised a total of ten students for each group and questions on the topics were standardized. Information gathered from the group ascertained that physical exercise was essential to their attentiveness and concentration in school (Pate et al., 2006). It may as well take some students more time to adopt physical changes in the playground as highlighted in the

research. The main advantage of focus group is that it is able to produce a large amount of data on a subject within a short time (Pate et al., 2006). There is possible access to comparisons that participants make between their experiences. However it is difficult to control focus groups and there are also dominating individuals who may skew the results. QuantitativeA descriptive analysis for the data pointed out that youth which are physically active get physicaland mental health benefits. The research would support the argument that comprehensive school-based physical activity programs could help the students meet most of their physical activity needs. It is quite significant for schools to provide physical activity programs aimed to benefit communities and the students in general. The benefit of descriptive analysis is that data gathered using this method is more reliable (Sallis, Prochaska & Taylor, 2000). Information can easily generalized under this form of research. Limitations with this form of research are the aspect of confidentiality as the subjects are not trustful as they feel the need to tell researcher what they need to hear. It presents the possibility for error and possible subjectivity.Correlation design was employed which explored statistics for the physically active youth in a study conducted by Center for Disease Control and Prevention. According to research conductedin 2007, only 17% of 9th -12th grade students claimed to be physically active for a minimum of 60 minutes in a day. Among 9-13 years old, 39% said they did participate in organized physical activity. Research shows that physical activity could help youth improve their concentration, memory and behavior. The main strength correlation approach is that it’s much easier to performthan experimental research (Sallis, Prochaska & Taylor, 2000). The researcher does not have a
