Article 1: Kourkouta, L., & Papathanasiou, I. (2014). Communication in Nursing
Practice. Materia Socio Medica, 26(1), 65. https://doi.org/10.5455/msm.2014.26.65-67
The article mainly focuses on the theory that a good communication between patient
and nurses are essential for better outcome of the nursing care towards every patient. Nurses
must provide help by showing kindness, sincerity and courtesy towards patient.
The paper explains about the ways communication can help a patient in recovering
quickly. Hence, need for basic education is required for developing a proper treatment
measures towards patient (Kourkouta & Papathanasiou, 2014). The outcome of the education
and communication would be improvement in the significant association among patients and
nurses as well as other health professionals.
The positive points displayed by the paper is that communication is the best way in
treating patient. Communication can be in any way either verbal or by non-verbal. Non-
verbal communication includes gestures. Development a good relation through
communication between patient and nursing helps in better treatment as patients would be
comfortable enough in sharing the information to the nurse. However, this paper lacks in
explaining the fact that always communication does not make a good relation. In some cases,
people with different linguistic background are unable to understand the language, in some
cases it is also seen that nurses are ill-treated by patients (Kourkouta & Papathanasiou, 2014).
The paper lacks in explaining the fact or the necessary that is to be taken when the patient is
rude or verbally unresponsive towards nurse’s communication.
The intended audience in this paper are the health care people because the paper
discusses about the role of good communication and the way in would help health care
people in understanding patient’s problem.

Article 2: Liu, W., Gerdtz, M., & Manias, E. (2016). Creating opportunities for
interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-centred care: how nurses, doctors,
pharmacists and patients use communication strategies when managing medications in
an acute hospital setting. Journal Of Clinical Nursing, 25(19-20), 2943-2957.
https://doi.org/10.1111/jocn.13360
The article examines about the strategies adopted by nurses, physicians, patients and
pharmacists while administrating medications. The main idea of the paper is patient centric
medication management which can be accomplished by practices that are interdisciplinary.
Better communication related to managing medication is among patient and clinicians getting
directly influenced by the outcome of the patient. The main limitation of this paper it adopted
multidisciplinary approaches that involved acute in-depth examination for medication
connections between physicians, patient, nurses and pharmacists (Liu, Gerdtz & Manias,
2016). The findings of the article have provided an awareness into a way where clinicians
coming from dissimilar disciplines use language policies to accomplish their statement goals
in patient medication organization.
Our findings confirmed the idea that use of communication approaches by nurses,
physicians, patients and pharmacists shaped prospects for developed interdisciplinary
association plus medications that are patient-centered in care hospital. The article provided
valuable information for the enlargement of hospital management programs on intercultural
communication. However, the expansion of management programme would help in
examination of communication problems into other health care organization.
The participants of this research are nurses, physicians, patients and pharmacists.
They were being interviewed and the communication between them was noticed. I think the
choice of participants were correct as the health care people can understand the

interdisciplinary management policies so that they are able to understand the means of
communication and required changes that are to be made accordingly (Liu, Gerdtz & Manias,
2016). Hence health care people along with patient would be intended audience for correct
analysis of the findings. The patient can analyse the necessary measure that would help them
to communicate with nurse and physicians so that treatment can be done easily.
Article 3: Henderson, S., Barker, M., & Mak, A. (2016). Strategies used by nurses,
academics and students to overcome intercultural communication challenges. Nurse
Education In Practice, 16(1), 71-78. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.nepr.2015.08.010
The main principle of this paper is to discuss about involvements from clinical nurse,
student nurse as well as nurse academics towards development of better connection with
patients by considering challenges due to intercultural communications.
The main idea of the article is to explain that the nurse’s academics and clinicians
must know about the intercultural communication challenges and find a solution to improve
their communication skills and learning to overcome the challenges (Henderson, Barker &
Mak, 2016). Verbal communication is the way by which a nurses can communicate with
patient by making them feel comfortable in telling information. On other hand, non-verbal
communication explains the way a nurse can communicate with patient through gestures that
are humble and gentle. The finding provides an idea about four different categorical ideas of
intercultural communications which are unique and conceptualized felt by participants as an
output of the challenges taken by them. The findings of this paper provided the idea that
business for informing nursing education includes allied health and medical professionals.
The limitation of this paper showed that the findings of the qualitative analysis is only
applied to the context that are similar hence there is limited accessibility towards other

contexts. The study is based on Australian context nevertheless research in different countries
would help in better assessment.
The intended audience in this article are five clinical nurse and 10 nursing students
along with 19 clinical facilitators and 7 academic nurses were asked through interview
(Henderson, Barker & Mak, 2016). The main idea for choosing these participants as they can
reduce challenges by including restoring to validation of culture by building alliance, seeking
elucidation as well as developing awareness towards knowledge.
Conclusion: evidence of recommendation to nursing practice
It can be concluded by explaining the fact that recommendation in nursing practice
required for providing high-quality care. Evidence based nursing practice is based on
evidence, research and needs to individual patient leading to higher care level in health care
organisation. It is discussed in the paper that challenges faced in health organisation are
numerous and complex. Nursing challenges includes professional resistance, regulatory
barrier, insurance policies, and lack of interdisciplinary skills. The nursing education includes
better preparation measures. The recommendation in nursing practices geared concerning
progressing the nursing career, and are concentrated on activities obligatory for meeting the
long-term goals rather than focussing on the short term needs. The challenges that are related
towards leadership in nursing requires leadership needs for competencies within nurses
providing collaborative environment where nurse can practice and learn and engage
themselves in various skills that would further help in the effective communications. It can be
recommended that the comprehensive and granular workforce data provided would help in
retaining the balanced skills among physicians, pharmacists, patient and nurses. The
annotated bibliography discussed about three papers related to nursing communication and it
is recommended that improving the intercultural communication strategy in health care

organisation policies would help setting a bridge between nurses and patient. The way the
message related to health is advocated between nurse and patient would help in better
analysis of the disease and treatment policies that a patient might go through. Hence, it is
recommended that the nurse must develop their skills for a healthy treatment.
