INTRODUCTIONPatient’s narratives have always been a major part in the realm of medical practices.Narratives given about the patients’ shows the efficiency of health care practitioners and servicedelivery as well (Robert, Cornwell and Gager, 2015). Experience of patient holds muchimportance for care providers as that aids them to analyze the areas of improvement andmodifications. It is essential for the health care practitioners to take feedback and opinion fromthe patients as accordingly respective changes can be made to the service aspects. Therefore,with the evolution of modern medicine, narratives are useful for the health care service providersto find out the facts about the service delivery provision (Gallagher and Payne, 2015). Thus, insuch respect the present research study has been made for the purpose of showcasing the value ofpatient experience in care amenities. Furthermore, discussion has also been included regardingrole of patient’s narratives in enhancing illness experience. EXPERIENCEOFPATIENTENABLESHEALTHPROFESSIONALSTOGETANINSIGHTINTOPATIENTSSELF- CONCEPTANDSELF-ESTEEMHealth care practitioners need to get suitable feedback from the patients so that to collectinformation about their experience regarding illness. Moreover, in this context it can also be saidthat experience of patients enables the health professionals to unfold patient’s self-concept andself-esteem. For instance- when the patients (suffering from renal failure) are providedappropriate services, they get more benefits and at the same time this contributes in enhancingtheir illness experience (Fitchett, Emanuel, Handzo, Boyken and Wilkie, 2015). This also helpsthem to remember each and every aspect of the service delivery procedure. Furthermore, opinionof patient play vital role in health care services as that helps them to get informed about each andevery aspect. Several articles are being discussed in the same area which are stated in the belowsection. According to Hwang, Fan and Hwang (2013), acquiring experience of patients isessential since that helps the care practitioners to ascertain their own capabilities and efficiencyin medical services. In this study, participants have included 151 medical students whereinstudents had to write about their own experience of illness. The study states that sick peoplealways rely on their care practitioners for appropriate diagnosis and effective therapy. In order to3
