Introduction
The policies to manage the safety of pedestrians in a metropolitan district by engaging the
stakeholders in that project would be discussed in this report.
Discussion
In developing policies for the management of pedestrian traffic, some objectives that
professionals of transportation can address are:
 Reduction of vehicle speed at the crosswalks.
 To make a separation of the sidewalks from the vehicle traffic.
 To provide awareness and visibility among the pedestrian and the vehicles.
Some other measures that could be taken are:
 A clear site designing is essential for convenient access to the parking lots,
driveways or other buildings by the vehicles as well as the pedestrian.
 Providing a minimum time gap for crossing roads in the intersection of roads.
 The long drive roads expect more vehicle and less of pedestrians, as a result, the
risk for the pedestrian increases for walking as well as the crossing of those
driveways (Pau et al., 2018). Therefore, land use must be planned well by the
engineers and the constructors.
The engagement of the stakeholders brings information in the process of policymaking.
This engagement of stakeholders reveals agreements and conflicts between them. Variety of
techniques and tools are to be considered for relationship management among the stakeholders
(JANSSEN, 2016). A set of diverse stakeholders with shared experience and knowledge is to be

engaged. The policymakers and engineers worked together and presented the policies to the
stakeholders that convinced their engagement.
Conclusion
It could be concluded from the above report that certain policies are required for the
management of pedestrian traffic and several measures can be taken for stakeholder’s
management.
