INTRODUCTION
Personal development is related with enhancement in skills and abilities to grab
necessary growth opportunities in an efficient manner. Under this, individual assess own
performance consistently and then prepare an appropriate plan to ensure future growth and
success. Personal development focuses over enhancement of self awareness and growth so that
one can attain milestones in career. It is a continuous process which allows a person to prepare
plans and strategies for personal improvement. On other side, professional development is
related with acquiring additional skills which help a person in performing job role in an efficient
manner. Professional development is important for developing necessary skills which are
essential for getting success at work place (Williams and Grierson, 2016). The present report is
based on personal and professional development of an individual for getting success in career. It
is a reflective document which comprises a detailed personal development plan for own
betterment. Thus plan will assist individual for attaining predefined academics, personal as well
as career goals. Further, a personal SWOT analysis has also been carried out in the report for
analyzing personal strengths, weakness and areas of improvement along with this there is a
continuous professional and personal development plan is also prepared significantly. Lastly,
different employability skills which have been gained during academics and courses have also
been covered in the assignment significantly along with their importance in growing at work
place.
Main Body
Goal setting
Goal setting is a crucial process which enables a person to prepare a plan for future
growth and success. Goals motivated an individual and also provide appropriate directions for
putting efforts to achieve set goals. Goal setting is a process which requires commitment,
consistency, and dedication towards set goals (Holdway and Hitchcock, 2018). Without goal
setting, there is no direction in life which might affect the future of an individual significantly.
Therefore, it is important to set goals by analyzing own performance in an efficient manner.
Here, I am looking forward to acquire the position of marketing executive in a renowned

company within 3 months of getting my degree. I am having goal to work at the position of
marketing executive successfully. For this purpose, there is a model called smart goals which is
designed to guide individuals in process of goal setting. Elements of model are given as under:
Specific: According to this the goal need to be specific which need to be well define and
clear. There should be no ambiguity in goals as it is essential for attainment of goals.
Measurable: There is requirement of specific criteria’s on the basis of which progress
can be measured towards goal accomplishment.
Achievable: Goals need to be achievable within stipulate period of time. It needs to be
formulate on practical ground.
Realistic: According to this, goals need to realistic and have relevancy with life progress.
Here, goals need to alien with the values of individual in significant manner (Whitney, 2016).
Time bound: There is a particular time need to be determined for goal attainment, it is
essential for maintaining the consistency in the process of goal setting.
Reflection model
For analyzing the scope of personal and professional development, it is vital to adopt
necessary reflection model to analyze own performance in timely manner. It is stated that I
realize the requirement of analyzing my performance so that I can make improvements for future
period of time. For this purpose, Kolb’s model of reflection is mentioned below:
Concrete experience: It is the first stage of model which focuses on personal
involvement of an individual in everyday situation. Here, a person more relies on feelings and
emotions rather systematic approach for solving a problem in an efficient manner (Lotter and et.
al., 2018). In this, one needs to reflect the experience in systematic way for learning something
new and gain new skills. Under this, I will prepare a detailed description based on my past
experiences and also describe my feelings and perception during situation.
Reflective observation: After describing experiences, the next step is to reflect those
experiences which are helpful in analyzing the impact of experiences on own performance. Here,
