INTRODUCTION
Personal development relates to the development of the personal trait which is used by the
individual in dealing with the different situation and the Professional development relates to the
development of the skill which is used in carry out the business activity. National Trust is a
registered charity which was set up in 1895. It takes care of coastline, forests, woods, fens,
beaches, farmland and pubs and one of the world's largest art collections. This report highlights
the different type of the self management learning and the way in which lifelong learning in
personal and professional contexts could be encouraged and the benefit of the self managed
learning. Further this report highlights the Self audit of the skills and the need which need to be
developed to be successful and also the Personal development plan. Further this report highlights
the processes and activities required to implement the development plan and document
development activities as planned and the updated development plan on the basis of the feedback
and evaluation. Further this report highlights the work based solution problem and the different
style of the communication and the different time management strategy.

TASK 1
1.1 Explain approaches of self management learning
Self management learning is the way in which individual used to manage or learns by own for
the purpose or motive for achieving the individual goal. Generally it is known as form of the
development in which individual used to take the initiate by their own to achieve the new skills,
knowledge or trait with the support of the organization to achieve both the organizational goal
and the individual goal (Rose, 2018).
Their are various type of the Self management learning technique but generally two type of the
approaches which are used by the individual, both of them are as follows:
Learning Through Research : It is the approach in which the individual used to study into the
method by the help of the investigating each and every aspect of the topic which helps the
individual in getting the new knowledge which eventually helps the individual in building the
new skills and trait. Generally individual used to compare the knowledge and the finding of the
research ans try to implicant the difference which has been find.
Advantage

 This approach help the individual in self evaluation of own which helps the individual in
understanding what is requirement for the purpose of achieving the individual goal
Disadvantage
 Many time this approach proves to be difficult task as it is difficult to understand all the
aspect of the topic by the own as it requires the knowledge of the various variety in one
individual.
Learning From Others: It is the another approach in which the individual used to take the help
of the other resources to gain the skills. Resources which are taken as a help are the seminars,
conferences, secondments, interviews, use of the internet, social networks, use of bulletin boards,
newsgroups (Cottrell, 2015).
Advantage
 This method helps the individual in getting the vast variety of the knowledge as compare
to other approaches which helps the individual in learning through various source
Disadvantage
 Generally this type of the approaches creates the complexity in the individual as
sometime the knowledge which is gathered from the different source does not match with
each other.
I Membership and Visitor Welcome Manager trying to develop the skills which can help
me in getting the promotion to the manager post. Self management learning specially research
learning helps me in that as it gives me the opportunity to look at the hampering which is coming
and also help me in covering the same. But in the case of the staff I think taking the help of other
will be better as they require many different type of the knowledge as they used to be in touch
with the customer.
1.2 Explain the way by which lifelong learning can encourage
Lifelong learning is the learning activity which is taken throughout the life. The main motive of
undertaking it is to improve knowledge, skills and competences within a personal, civic, social
and/or employment-related perspective.
Kolb's learning cycle is the best model for the lifelong understanding as it is the process based
learning which helps the individual at every aspect. The stages which helps the individual in their
learning cycle are as follows:
