INTRODUCTION
Personal development is describing as a method through which an individual enhance
their skills, ability and knowledge that help them in conducting work in effective manner (Caras
and Sandu, 2014). Personal develop include activities through which a person can improve their
awareness as well as identity by enhancing their talent, skills, knowledge and so on. It is
essential for every organization to conduct personal development activities which help their
employees in improving their skills. This will directly and indirectly lead to increment in
productivity of a company. Organization taken in this is National Trust which is a non profit
organisation. This company was founded by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Canon
Hardwicke Rawnsley in the year 1895. It is a company which focus more on national heritage
and open spaces in order to protect them from everyone to enjoy. This report is going to explain
factors which help in self-management which leads to enhancement in lifelong development of
capabilities. Along with this it will include activities which help in taking responsibilities of
personal and professional development. This will also include ways which help in reviewing own
performance as well as it also includes evaluation which are acquire to interpersonal as well as
transferable skills.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self-managed learning
As per the article given on IGI Global, self managed learning is define as a kind of
strategy which permits learners to charge their own learning procedure. It helps them to identify
strategy, tools, resources and many more which are required for self learning process (What is
Self-Directed Learning, 2019). This learning assist employees to understand goal of an
organisation, its aim and objectives. There are various approaches of self-managed learning
which are explained below:
Use of bulletin boards: This approach of self-managed learning describes that use of
bulletin boards helps in making notes, schedule day to day activities, define goals and
many more. In respect of The National Trust, the manager uses to note down daily
activities so that they able to guide their subordinates about their task. Along with this,
they also encourage their workers to make notes about new thing they have learned which
will help them in their growth and development.

Advantages:
It will help respective organisation to inform every employee about day to day activities
instead of informing them individually.
Disadvantages:
There are some topics which will be difficult for the respective company to explain their
staff with the use of bulletin board.
Social Network: With the help of various social sites such as Facebook, blogs, twitter
and so on an individual can gain wide knowledge which will assist in their personality
development (Dochy and et. al., 2012). In context of The National Trust, company make
sure to provide knowledge to their workers which will boost their confidence as well they
will feel motivated
Advantages:
It will save time and money of National Trust by providing them training and
development through online source.
Disadvantages:
At the time of training, employees of respective company may face the issue of internet
connectivity due to which they may not be able to attend their session.
Seminar and conferences: Another approach of self-managed learning is seminar and
conferences. In The National Trust, firm conducts seminars and conferences through
which they can share company's policies, benefits and future opportunities to their
subordinates. Along with this, they will also come to know about worker’s expectations
from their firm
Advantages:
It will help the staff of respective company to know about company in a better and
effective manner.
Disadvantages:
Due to such serminar and conferences, sometimes employers wont be audible to their
employees which will lose their interest.
Hence, from the above mentioned approach, social network will be appropriate for Memebership
and Visitor Welcome manager as they will able to learn as per their sutiable time. On the other

hand, respective company will able to interact with their every employees at a same time which
will save their time. This will help respective organisation to focus on their long term goals..
1.2 Ways in which lifelong learning in PPD context
According to Michael Cheary, lifelong learning is define as huge term which is required
in education. It is an important source for self motivation to an individual (What is lifelong
learning, 2019). In context of The National Trust, company provide their staff lifelong learning
practices such as communication skills, decision making skills and so on. With the help of such
practices, subordinates will able to have effective communication with their clients or customers.
Along with this, they also perform their task effectively. There are several ways through lifelong
learning practices which are described below:
Self-directed learning: Manager of The National Trust organise day to day operations
in systematic manner. This will help workers to take initiatives in learning, set their
goals, recognise resources required for learning process as well as also implement
strategies to get productive learning outcome.
Continuing Professional Development: Employees of The National Trust are assigned
those tasks in which they have knowledge and can perform their activity in effective
manner. This will encourage them to gain experiences and aid to improve their problem
solving skills.
Recognition to prior learning: This method helps subordinates of The National Trust to
enhance their personality which they mostly acquire outside firm environment (Dorociak
and et. al., 2017). This prior learning gives them opportunities which will boost their
career.
Observation: Its duty of manager of The National Trust to observe the task and
distribute it between workers so that task gets completed in effective manner. Along with
this, it assists employee to observe strategies of other employees and try to grab it.
Financial Support:In respect nof National Trust, having strong financial support
respective company will be able to perfrom their task in better and productive manner.
Time:In context of National Trust, company complete their task within given period of
time which in turn increase their effectiveness.
Hence, from the mentioned ways, time will be sutiable for National Trust. It is because
respective company will be able to complete their assignment is specific time. This will aid them
