INTRODUCTION Personal and professional development defines development of individual in relation to improve personal skills and knowledge to gain desire position in a workplace or maintain effective relations in social life. It mainly include various qualities related to understanding of people,theirbehaviourandcertainsocialcompetencies(Grima-Farrell,2015).Whereas, professional development generally revolves around knowledge of operations, proper planning and management of goals in order to achieve objectives effectively. Present study has been conducted on,Travelodge Hotel Limited which operates their business functions in hotels and hospitality sector throughout United Kingdom. Company headquartered inLlford, UK. In this project discussions have been made on, understanding self managed learning and implementation and review on self personal and professional development plan. Furthermore, inter-personal and transferable skillswith the help of effective time management strategies and solution of work based problems are also included in this report which will benefit company to achieve their desire set of goals and objective in effective time frame. TASK 1 1.1 Evaluate approaches to self-managed learning Self managed learning is a formative approach in which an individual improves their own skills and knowledge. It will benefit them to sustain for long duration of time. Business organisations need to follow this concept as to provide various learning programmes to their staff members in order to enhance their skills and knowledge to increase their quality of work. In context with Travelodge company by implementing this concept company can fulfil their goals and accomplish their targets effectively. Mentioned below there are some key approaches which will benefit individuals and organisation to attain their targets: Conferences and Seminars:Conference is mainly a formal meeting in which various aims are discussed. Whereas, in seminars people get to learn about a specific subject and topic. In order to learn new things, have better opportunities and resolve issues in effective way Travelodge can conduct conferences and seminars in which their employees can enhance their skills and deliver efficient outcomes for betterment of company. This will also aid them in resolves issues and problem which results in decrease in conflicts in company workplace.
Internet:Internet provide various platform to extract different types of knowledge in any filed. Individual can gain knowledge and have information from internet websites, articles and pages. Travelodge can implement advanced networking system in their workplace which will benefit their employees to increase their base of knowledge and skills (Chipchase, and Long, P. D., 2012). This will not only helps workers to enhance their personal development but also benefits company to increase their quality of production. Social Network:Is is one the most effective approach through which an individual can increase their level of knowledge and effectively manage their self development. Manager of Travelodge can adopt this system of using social networking sites in their workplace to enhance employees knowledge in order to increase productivity of both company and workers. Use of Bulletin Boards:This is also one the most useful approach in which an individual can write their scheduled goals, targets and notes in noticeable and attractive manner. Managers of Travelodge can take advantage of bulletin board to learn new things and modify it by adding or deducting it. With the help of taking internet as a source of self managed learning I can enhance and develop my skills in order to perform my roles and responsibilities in more effective way. Internet will provide me various modes to acquire knowledge and increase my abilities. 1.2 Ways in which lifelong learning learning in personal and professional contexts could be encouraged Life long learning mainly refers to a formative process in which a person continuously keeps on gathering and approaching various information and knowledge. It is basically a lifelong ongoing learning process which aim towards improving various skills and competencies in order to increase opportunities and career growth. In this, an individual learn various kinds of new things which directly benefits them in developing their personal and professional level of growth. It is essential for an individual to evaluate their strength and weaknesses and learn effective skills to overcome their weaknesses and convert it into their strengths. This process will benefit Travelodge managers to deal with various organisation challenges and assist their employees in effective direction. It results in increasing confidence and face different types of problems and accept challenges in more formative way. This process collectively benefits individuals and organisation in order to gain more effective qualifications which provides greater level of career advancement opportunities. It also helps in enhancement of employability and promote various
aspects of satisfaction level of motivation. This process benefits Travelodge managers to effectively determine their overall strength and weaknesses. It will result in enhancing their skills and increase their knowledge for attaining long term opportunities. Blended- learning: It is one the most common and revolving technique which help and individual to maximise their area of knowledge. In this form of technique there is a mixture of online and traditional form of learning. With the help of this learning approach Travelodge managers can learn from the online source in face-to-face mode. This will benefit them to ask their problems and issues simultaneously.
