INTRODUCTION
University level education not only develops educational knowledge of the students but
also act as a foundation of for learning employability skills which are essential for gaining
employment after completing university education. Professionals skills developed during
university education helps student identify their career paths and make career advancement in
their professional life. The continuous professional development is the enjoining procedure of
enhancing and sustaining skills which help in securing employment in decided career path and
gain promotions to attain career goals. The present report includes a reflective journal on the
discussion of ways the university education experience has assisted in development of various
employability skills. The main employability skills provided in the reflective journal include
communication skills, research skills, ICT skills, teamwork skills, time management skills,
problem solving skills.
MAIN BODY
Reflective Journal with the use of Gibb’s reflective cycle
Business firms not only require their employees to have technical and academic knowledge
about a particular field but also possess certain employability skills which play an important role
in completion of their daily business activities. This is because simple academic and technical
knowledge about particular field does not enable candidates to apply that knowledge practically
to gain successful outcomes. In addition to this organisations acts as a group and the
employability skills prepare students skydiving at the university to secure employment and
effectively utilise their academic knowledge in a workplace setting. Development of such skills
is essential for career development of every student so that their academic knowledge helps them
seek their career goals.
I have created a reflective journal about my experience at the university which helped me
gain effective employability skills. The present reflective journal is created with the help of
Gibb’s model of reflection. The Gibb’s model of reflection which is also known as Gibb’s
reflective cycle takes an individual. This reflection model provides helps discover various
experience from a reflective point of view. The Gibb’s reflective cycle allows individuals to
learn from their experiences and take actions to make progress so that the individual is able to
perform better in future similar experience. The Gibb’s reflective cycle provides six stages of

reflection which ends with creation of an effective action plan which helps make continuous
progress.
After using this reflection I will be able to reflect on my experience of attending the
university in relation to gaining employability skills and make progress in terms of weak
employability skills.
Gibb’s reflective cycle
Description
I was able to develop various employability skills by attending university and
participating in continuous development model. The continuous development model helped me
attain skills which are essential for securing employment after completion of my academic skills.
Time management is the primary skills which I was able to develop with the help of this with the
help of my experience in participation in the ominous professional development module and
attending university. This module and university attendance required me to complete various
assignments in a time bound manner. The assignments given by the university faculty during
continuous professional development required me to complete my own research, find solutions
to various business issues and complete assignments in particular word document and
PowerPoint presentation which required knowledge about various ICT tools. This helped me
develop research skills, problem solving skills and ICT skills. In addition to this I was able to
build teamwork skills as several assignments were group based which helped me understand
ways to work in a group.
Before the experience: Prior to the beginning of this module I was very excited as this
module aimed to develop my employability skills. This was an opportunity for me to ensure that
I secure employability in field suitable for my academic degree and interests. I was eager to
improve on my skills gap with the help of university faculty by understanding their feedback and
working to make progress.
During the experience: I was able to develop time management skills with the help of 4-D
time management model. In addition to this assignments based on certain case study helped me
conduct research on my own. With the help from the university faculty I was able to learn proper
referencing, citation and ways to find authentic sources for company specific assignments. This
developed my research skills. In addition to this group based assignments gave knowledge about
the dynamics of a group setting and develop teamwork skills. I was able to understand the value
