INTRODUCTION
The professional and personal development are considered as two main aspects of life
which helps the person in setting the goals, methods and the outcomes of the learning and
training process (Moon, 2013). The plans of each individual may vary from one another but it
leads to the lifetime learning of an individual. The personal and professional development of a
person is essential because it helps in the inner development of a person and their profession as
well. The report is about understanding how important personal and professional development is
in the growth of an individual.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self managed learning
Self managed learning can be considered as a process in which people can gain a huge
amount of information by using some means themselves. Self managed learning can help in
enhancing the lifelong development of a person which can help the individual in professional
a well as in their personal life. These can be used for shaping culture, communication,
behavior as a person can learn a lot of things which can help in shaping their life n a very
positive direction. Some self managed learning factors are discussed as following :
Social networks
There is a very wide range of social networking option by which people can interact with
each other and also, it can be used to gain information. Major part of the population spend
most of their time on these social networking websites such as face book, twitter. By these
means, they can interact with various people and along with it, they can also gain a he
amount of information (Lester and Costley, 2010). So, social networking media can act as a
very helpful and efficient tool for gaining the information and with interacting with people as
well.
Seminars and Conferences

One can participate in various seminars and conferences for gaining a good and quality
information. Many people feel shy in the starting but participating in such gives a lot more
confidence to the people. Seminars act as a very effective tool as it gives the person, an
opportunity in presenting their knowledge in front of people and it also helps in boosting the
confidence of the person. So, seminars and conferences are also a very effective tool for
gaining information and along with this, it also helps in presenting the person in front of a he
amount of people, which further is useful for boosting the confidence of the person.
Internet
Another important and most common tool is internet which most of the generation is
using these days. The world has been indirectly got dependent on it because whether one can
see in terms of booking a flight or booking a cab, internet is required. Many people spend a
huge amount of time on internet such as on social networking sites, but people can also use it
for collecting the efficient data and information about specific facts. It is a very well known
tool and all the information is present in it. One can search anything on the internet and the
person can have various links as well for gaining as well as for increasing the knowledge.
1.2 Ways in which lifelong learning can be encouraged
There can be various ways by which people can stay engaged in the lifelong learning. It
can be classified by using the SWOT analysis here and it is discussed as under :
Through an evaluation of the strengths and weakness, one can evaluate the
personal strengths. This can also make the person able to use professional learning tools
and continuous learning as well. Self reflective learning helps in maintaining the learning
of new information and skills and in the workplace, it can be done by doing the roles and
responsibilities more effectively (Gibson, Dollarhide and Moss, 2010). It is because after
learning something by some specific mean, it is very important to practice it themselves
because if it will be done in routine, then the person can increase their self managed
learning skills, but if it is not, then in that case, the person will forget doing all these
activities because continuity is must, whether it will be any work, but continuity is must
to keep the whole practice maintained. The workplace wants the employees to have
proper time skills, leadership skills and communication skills as well. Communication
