INTRODUCTIONPersonal and professional development significant process of learning which isundertaken by individuals to gain knowledge and skills to achieve desired goals (McNiff, 2010).It is a continuous process which supports individuals in developing their qualities which assist inenhancing performance in personal and professional life. This process includes self-examinationof skills and capabilities to meet desired goals. It also involves development of personal plans tomeet desired future goals. Principles of personal and professional development is completelydependent on self-managed learning and self-assessment. Personnel posse certain attributeswhich assists them in attaining the benefits of lifelong learnings which further assist in meetingdesired goals in long term. Self-managed learning is linked directly with determining learningobjectives by analysing it need and its plan by which it have to achieved. It provides significantopportunities to personnel to formulate strategies for their own development. Followingassignment is based on Travelodge Hotel which will help to understand various approaches toself-managed learning. This report includes different ways for lifelong learning by whichpersonal and professional development can be attained. The certain benefits of self-managedlearning for organisation and individual is being studied briefly. Report will help to understandneed of activities which has to be performed by individuals is being studied significantly. TASK 1 1.1 Approaches to self-managed learning.Self-managed learning is the process through which individuals determines the way bythey can acquire significant knowledge to attain the desired goals and objectives. It is also linkedwith setting up of goals and objective by analysing purposes behind learning it also assist indevelopment of plan by it can be achieved(Elliott, 2011). There are different approaches to self-managed learning which are described as follows:-Research:The individuals can conduct research effectively as a part of their work life whichsupports in self-managed learning. The research helps in generating new ideas and conceptswhich significantly increases the personal knowledge and skills. It is an effective way for self-managed learning as it increases capabilities to face problems which supports in achievingdetermined goals. 1

Seminars and conferences:Individuals can learn effectively by attending different seminars and conferences. Thisare effective methods which helps individuals in sharing thoughts and knowledge with others.This significantly supports in learning new things form others (Moon, 2013). It also supportsindividuals to increase their confidence of speaking among large number of peoples andenhancing own presentation skill in front of audience. Social networks:In today's technological world most of the individuals spent lot of time on social networksites such as Facebook, My Space, Twitter and many other sites. These tools are effective waywhich assist is self-managed learning. This sites allows users to share their thoughts and they canchat with different peoples at global level which helps in learning new things. Individuals canalso learn from owners of these site how they became successful in their life. This informationcan be used in practical life. It will directly support in self-managed learning and to achievedesired goals and objectives. Internet:Internet is a biggest platform which provides large amount of information on almost allthe topics. It includes different sites such as Wikipedia and Google Scholar which provides vastknowledge given by many experts these help in self-managed learning on various subject. Byaccessing information on internet individual can gain significant knowledge to achieve desiredgoals and objectivesThe individuals can also learn from different styles of learning given by David Kolbwhich is described as follows:Diverging learning style: - In this style learners first try to watch and makes significantobservation rather than performing it immediately in practical life. Individuals followingthese style of learning are good in artistic and scientific work. The observation supportsin self-managed learning.
