INTRODUCTION
Leadership is an act and process of influencing thoughts and actions of others.
Leadership in organisational context involves influencing thoughts and actions
of employees and members of the organisation in order to ensure their best
contribution in achievement of organisational goals. Leadership plays important
role in success of the organisation one of the example for that is Amazon Inc.,
American multinational technology company and its leader Jeff Bezos.

Amazon and Jeff Bezos
Leader is important for all organisations and their success and this is applicable for Amazon
as well. Amazon Inc. was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos and is headquartered at Seattle,
US. Amazon operates under cloud computing, e-commerce, artificial intelligence,
consumer electronics, digital distribution, grocery stores. Amazon operates worldwide and
to carry out its operations Amazon Inc. employees around 840000 employees. These
employees and Amazon is led by Jeff Bezos, American internet entrepreneur, industrialist,
media proprietor and investor.

Leadership and its role in Organisational
Success
 Success of the organisation gets affected from and
is dependent on several factors but among all of them one
of the most important factor that affect success of the
organisation is its leadership. Leadership is important
because effect of any external and internal factor which
affect success of organisation negatively through
effective leadership this effect can be well-managed.

Visioning for Success- Success of result of vision of the organisation and
success also reflect in form of achievement of organisational vision and this
vision is developed by the leader of the organisation.
Commitment- Commitment is very important for success and this is another
which is played by leader in success of the organisation.
Managing organisational change- Change is integral part of success but one
factor which is important in this is that implementing change in the
organisation is just as difficult as it is important.

Leadership in Amazon
Leadership and role played by leadership was discussed above and on the basis of this it can
be concluded in success of the Amazon Inc. leadership has played a very important role.
Success of the organisation is vision of the leader and continuously striving to achieve that
vision. Leader alone cannot do that and this is the reason that through leadership they
influence others to act in such manner that they can also contribute in achieving the vision of
leader. Amazon’s leader also visualise success of the Amazon that he started as online book
store and this vision became true because of his effective leadership.

destination where organisation wants to reach. Improving thinking and simplifying
message, this means getting every detail about the concept and ensuring that
message is delivered in effective and simple manner. Knowing the market,
customers come from market and this is why it is important that organisation and
leader has every relevant and important detail of the market.
Regarding leadership one of the important factors which affect success of the
leadership is style of the leader. Leadership styles are various and depend on the
individual characteristics of the leader and along with that situation characteristics.

Transformation Leadership Style
This is a leadership style in which leader encourage, motivate and inspire
employees in order to innovate and create change. Innovation and change is
important because contributes in growth of the company and along with that it
also shape the organisation for future success. Transformational leadership
involves motivating and inspiring members with help of examples. This means
leaders do what they want to communicate to their members in order to
motivate and inspire employees.

This means consistent vision, mission, and set of values to the member by the
leader. This is also known as foundation of transformation leadership. This
means that Jeff Bezos requires to consistently promotes his vision for

vision which means that from every interaction it should be clear what exactly
leader wants to achieve and also allows employees to understand their role in
achievement of the leadership.

On the basis of above discussion it can be concluded that
leadership is integral part of success of the organisation and
organisation cannot grow without help of leadership. regarding
leadership it is very important to consider what style of leadership
has been adopted by the leader and how effective the style is in
attaining and achieving vision which has been set by the leader.
This study discussed about transformational leadership through
which Jeff Bezos has achieved his vision for Amazon.
