Personal and professional development is well defined process through which an
individual engage in the direction of learning to face the challenges and achieve the desired goal.
It is commonly linked with the development needs of personnel as well the whole group (Avalos,
2011). In this context, analysis of personal skills have been that provides a clear understanding
the about the process to followed for the improvement of particular skills. Various objectives are
also developed which provides a direction to the individual for creation of career development
plan. Apart from this, Some specific research models have explained in this report which clearly
reflects the evidence behind the development and improvement of particular skill in order to
achieve success in personal and professional life.
Analysis of management skill for the development.
From the analysis of present job market, it is analysed that there are various opportunities
of job in the multinational and small business enterprise in the human resource department
(Tarrant, 2013). In this scenario, I can clearly define my vision of getting a job as human
resource officer. It is considered as the highly skilled job that requires various competencies and
skills. It is also recognised with the appropriate abilities there is a need of proper knowledge and
attitude to accomplish the job well. The most significant skills which are needed for this post
like decision making, leadership, negotiation, interpersonal and problems solving skills etc
(Moon, 2013). Apart from this, it has been identified that the most significant skill which is
required to perform the job of human resource officer is decision making skills which I have to
manage the work and resolving critical problems within the organization. The main goal behind
the development of this is to get this key position and also to develop a successful career in
human resource management. After the completion of my post graduation in the field of HR,
presently I am pursuing training in a business firms which is regulating in retail sector named
B&M retail. Through self appraisal techniques, I have analysed some of my internal strengths
and weakness.

In the above analysis, it is clearly defined that the most important competency which I
have to develop is decision making skills that needs to be accomplish the job at workplace. In
order to get an expertise in effective decision, I will take guidance from my superiors and also
participate in various training programs. Through effective research and analysis of various case
problems I will get the knowledge of taking effective decisions and resolving critical issues like
labour turnover, employee compensation, development of welfare facilities and resolving
industrial disputes etc (Kinsella, 2010 Farrell, 2011). Apart from this, I have also developed
some personal objectives and goals which I have to achieve in order to develop career as
successful HR officer in specified time durations. Accomplishment of targets will provide an
understanding of gap between the present performance and requirements of development in the
future.
Specific: The main objective which I have developed in to become a manager of human
resources in an international retail business chain in the span of five years.
Measurable: It is my short term goal is to get the job HR associate in B&M retail within a year
where I am pursuing my industrial training. There is also a requirement of effective
compensation. It is also an objective to complete my diploma in labour law within one year to
develop the competencies and achievement of knowledge of various labour laws related to
employment conditions and compensation which are developed by authorities.
Attainable: I will achieve this target by improving performance and providing various new ideas
that benefits the business firms. It develops an image among the superiors and helps in getting
the job at effective compensation.
Realistic: Target which I have set is realistic and possible to attained in time which I have
specified in the previous analysis.

Time bound: I will be able to achieve the goal of becoming the HR manager by 2022 and
achievement of job as HR associate within one year.
Other than I have identified an effective model of learning through I will develop skills and
enhance knowledge.
Kolb's learning theory
t the most appropriate learning style which was developed with to provide an
understanding capability of individuals to gain the knowledge and experience in personal and
professional life (Sutherland, Howard and Markauskaite, 2010). Basically there are four learning
style in this model which I have analysed the ability to develop the decision making skills and
potential in order to achieve the personal set standards.
Dominant learning abilities of individuals are concrete experience and reflective observation.
Diverge have creativity and imagination ability. In this style,I will be able to improve my
learning by taking experience and observing the superiors.
Assimilator’s learning power are abstract conceptualization and active experimentation. This
style clearly defines that an individual can enhance its experience through develop of concepts
and through practice.

Dominant learning abilities of convergers are abstract knowledge and experimentation (Bleach,
2014). They also have the knowledge of practical applications of idea and innovative solutions to
handle the problems.
Accommodator’s dominant learning abilities are concrete experience and active experimentation.
In this style, an individual can increase its potential through development of experience by taking
participation in various activities like seminar, presentations, conferences etc.
In addition to this, I have also developed a career development plan that determine the short term
and long term goals to be accomplished in the span of 1- 5 years.
Career development plan
Objective: development of competencies and skills that are requires to achieve the goal of
working as an HR manager international retail firm.
Short term goals: Development of personal effectiveness through creation of decision making
skills and completion of diploma in labour law in the span of 1 year from the same university in
which I have completed mu post graduation.

Medium term goals: completion of industrial training in international retain organization and
also completion of other sessions, seminars leadership activities. Development of accuracy in
working under pressure through participation in group activities and discussion.
Long term goals: Achievement of key position of HR manager in a multinational retain
organization. Gaining international exposure by working for different international business
enterprise in retail industry that posses different organizational culture.
Core values: I will be standout wherever I am. Hardwork and confidence will be kept for all
professional work. All actions will be done to gain sustainable competitive advantage in the
turbulent world. I will keep appropriate interactions with all people who engage with m. All my
future actions will be proactive rather than reactive.
Thus, it can be said that with this effective plan I will be able to accomplish my target and
achieve the decision making skills through completion of various activities in specified time
duration.
