INTRODUCTION Personal and professional development is a formal skill which helps individuals in setting prescribed goals and strategies. Personal development helps in effectively managing the growth and learning of the individual throughout the career (Kroll and Dussias, 2017). Professional development helps in effectively maintaining professional credentials which mainly focuses on attending various conferences, formal and informal learning opportunities, etc. This study will include evaluation of various skill sets, identification of career opportunities and appraise of the various skill sets by effectively identifying the gaps and developing effective skill sets to reach the desired career opportunity or goal.Gibbs is an effective reflection model which helps in encouraging people to systematically think about the specific experience at the time of specific event, situation and activity. This helps in reflecting upon the individual experiences which in turn helps in dealing with the better future. MAIN BODY Strengths: As per the Gibbs reflective model, I have determined that have various sets of personality skills such as communications skills, flexibility and adaptability to change. I have technical competence in order to deal with components and in turn reach higher operational goals and standards. I have analysed that, I am quite determinant and persistent to accomplish the particular set of goals. I believe that, I have effective ability to work in harmony with my co- workers in order to reach the set goals and objectives. I have immense capability to work under pressure and deliver the best results and outcomes while carrying out specific task. I have sought to analyse the fact that, I have effective time management skills which in turn helps me in accomplishing all the task within the stipulated time.I seek to carry out task within the stipulated time. I have various leadership qualities such as integrity, honesty, decision making capabilities, commitment, innovation, creativity, accountability, delegation, empowerment, etc. which in turn helps in improving my various career growth opportunities. It was interesting for me to analyse that I am quite innovative and creative in order to function all the activities in a systematic and appropriate manner (Gibbs Reflective Cycle by Graham Gibbs,2019). I am self motivated and encourage my self to accomplish the desired task on my own in order to outgrow my personal skills (Vetere and Stratton, 2016). I have strong decision making capabilities which helps me in finding solution to the particular problem and attain set goals in a systematic and efficient manner. I have strong conflict resolution skills which helps me in finding the best 1
solution to the particular problem. I have team building capability which helps me in keeping everyone intact to accomplish set of task and keep them fully involved in order to attain desired task. I know how to better significant relationship with the customers in order to attain desired goals and objectives. Weaknesses: As per the Gibbs reflective model, I have evaluated that, I am self- critique which in turn affect me in attaining desired goals and objectives. I am disorganized which in turn leads to chaos in attainment of desired goals and objectives (Ramia and et.al., 2016). On of the major weakness of mine is that, I am a perfectionist. I want perfection in everything I do which in turn makes me very anxious. I am shy and kind of introvert which makes it difficult for me to share my view and ideas with the other individuals. I am not a public speaker which in turn makes it difficult for me to interact with other individuals and maintain a strong relationship (Gibbs Reflective Cycle by Graham Gibbs,2019). Opportunity: As per the Gibbs reflective model, I have interest to grow my career in the marketing industry where I can attain the job role as marketing manager. I want to grow my career in this field because I believe that there is wide range of scope in the marketing field. This will help me in reaching my set goals in the particular field which leads to higher personal growth opportunities (Gibbs Reflective Cycle by Graham Gibbs,2019). I have analysed that, in order to attain career in marketing field I need to focus on developing various set of personal professional development skills. I want to build negotiation skills in order to significantly contribute to the success of the business. A good negotiation skills is very useful in avoiding various future conflicts and helps in finding the best solution.I want to gain new experiences which will helps in broadening my knowledge and will also help in improving the career in the marketing field (Christie, and et.al., 2018).As per the Gibbs reflective model, Professional development helps in effectively maintaining professional credentials which mainly focuses on attending various conferences, formal and informal learning opportunities, etc. I need to focus on improving my professional marketing skills which will help me in developing career in this field. I need to develop effective digital marketing skills and gain broader set of knowledge related with data analysis, search engine optimization, social media skills, writing skills, editing skills, paid social media marketing, customer relationship management skills, listening skills, email marketing skills, advertising skills, etc. I will develop digital marketing skills by taking educational courses and internship in the related field (Hill and et.al., 2016). This study helps in outlining that the major strengths associated with my personal and professional skills. It has been evaluated that, I have effective communications skills, flexibility, adaptability, integrity,honesty,decisionmakingcapabilities,commitment,innovation,creativity, accountability, delegation, empowerment, work under pressure, team building capability which helps me in building up my skills in a professional and ethical manner in order to attain higher career growth.I have examined that the major weakness associated with me is that, I am disorganized self- critique, shy, introvert and perfectionist. This reflective study further evaluated that, the major opportunity with the business is that, I want to grow my career in marketing industry in a reputed company as a marketing manager. This will help me in gaining wide amount of experience to attain respective career goal in order to reach greater heights. The major threat associated with me is large number of competition in the market to get the desired job role. Job insecurity and changing professional standards is one of the major threat which in turn affects me from attaining my desired set of goals and objectives. RECOMMENDATION I have tofocuson preparing a milestone plan in order to attain the desired goals and objectives for career development. I need to first get my basics clear regarding the marketing field by watching various educational tutorial videos (Dorociak and et.al., 2017). I will also read several books related with the marketing in order to improve my thinking in this field. I will effectively overcome my weakness in order to improve my personal and professional skills. I will take training from the institute which h will help me in broadening the knowledge on the marketing field. I will develop knowledge in his field my taking post graduation degree from the 3
university. I will also do internship from the company in order to gain some practical knowledge and apply my theoretical knowledge at work ad gain experience to attain higher career goals and objectives (Agafonova, Bryukhova and Kaigorodov, 2015). I will focus on prioritizing to develop the necessary skills by effectively developing SMART objectives.I will focus on improving my skills to be more innovative and will also focus on maintaining strong relationship with the customers. I have to focus on improving various personal and professional skills related with numerical skills, negotiation skills, creative skills, teamwork skills, etc. in order to attain desired set of career goals and objectives. I should also focus on expanding my knowledge in online and digital marketing which in turn will help me in attaining my specific career growth opportunity at a higher level.
