INTRODUCTION
My name is Adil Al Shimerty and I born in Najaf around 180 km south of Baghdad the
capital city of Iraq and 68 km south of Babylon the ancient that everyone knows it. I am a
Mechanical Designer Engineering and I study as a student at AIM (Avidov-Ungar, 2016). I work
hard to find my self and I back to school to enhance my capability and ability to lead as well as
manage our organisational members. I also improved my knowledge and tactics to improve my
career growth and success. I attend professional coaching that helped me in increasing of my
learning about the theory and practices. I find myself in a strong position that helps in dealing
within each and every situation easily. I try to reduce my stress level and enhance my capability
to lead, manage and develop people at workplace.
MY JOURNEY SO FAR
My journey is so far because in my childhood, before 1980, background country was
living in peace and pleasures of life and after 1980 when the long war with our neighbourhood
Iran started and continuing for nearly decade. The Iraq economy, which grew dramatically in the
1970s and early 1980s due to a boom in world oil prices, has been in decrease since the mid-
1980s. The 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war proven to be an economic disaster (Ahmed, 2018).
CHILDHOOD
My childhood was divided into two different parts such as; first before 1980 when my
background nation was living in peace and pleasures of life and the second after 1980 when the
long war with our neighbourhood Iran started and continuing for nearly decade. My childhood
was good and my favourite games were Soccer and Chess (McMillan, McConnell and
O’Sullivan, 2016). Before the war, my age is 10 year and I live more happily. I watched
Argentina ”1978 FIFA World Cup final in fist time. The name of the game provides attention to
me and the Netherlands. It is amazing for me in watching the game on big-screen colour at that
time with my friends, neighbours and family. Players in Argentina ”1978 FIFA World Cup have
dressed with blue strip and Orange colour T-shirt, the green rectangular stay in my mind for
days. I started gathering a weekly hard copy of sport Magazine within the Arabic language name.
Since that, I followed the FIFA World Cup as well as German became my favourite team and
love to watch Liverpool.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER
I start with my first job as a laser programmer for the up-to-date version of the laser
machine in Brisbane in a recently established company. I came to Australia and motivated
myself for working hard and enhancing my engineering skills. My first job was a dream come
true as I never thought of getting myself a good job in Australia (Jaeger, 2018). I learnt lot of
skills in this job. I have talked with several people and managed to enhance the customers
service provided by the company. I have analysed the way to manage the organisational culture
and develop effective strategies to mange the working within business. I built my confidence and
motivation while working for this job as I had to talk with several people. I have build my career
in progressive manner and this has helped me to get success in life. When working as the
contractor, I learnt that team management and team work are two important factors that help in
leading successful career.
NEXT STEPS WITHIN MY JOURNEY
My journey is a pathway that has taught me lot of skills. I have learnt many skills and
abilities that are used for developing personal as well as professional life. I have seen that
struggle has helped me to work in a more prominent manner. Due to this, I am able to manage
the business operations and activities effectively and learn more facts about good life. There is
requirement of developing as well as creating effective leadership strategies (Holzweiss, and
Parrott, 2017).
REFLECTION ON MY LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
I think I have good leadership qualities as I am able to work in effective manner within
organisations. I have effectively handled my team members by using good leadership skills. This
has helped me to develop and manage various skills that will lead to productive functioning of
business. I have personal vision to become a transformational leader. There is need to mange the
effectiveness by developing and managing various skills and motivating my team members to
achieve success. I always encourage my team members to manage the working and inspire them
to work hard and attain personal and professional goals. There is great importance in my life for
conducting my work in ethical manner. (Nasr, Mirshahjafari and Liaghatdar, 2016) I have always
thought of developing plans ans strategies that leads to manage the capabilities and increase
interest in my professional work. I have participated in LMDP plan so that I could manage the
achieving of organisational goals. I have an approach for managing the working as a good leader

strategies and planning has helped in creating positive workplace environment. It has enhanced

for managing the operations and processes of working as a good manager. I think there is
necessity for managing own skill for achieving organisational goals. When I use strong
leadership qualities then I am able to attain the business objectives easily. There is need for
developing proper planning for enhancing the personal growth. It is necessary for company to
manage the working of organisation as it leads to development of abilities (Körkkö, Kyrö-
Ämmälä and Turunen, 2016).

I have concluded that within the training period, it was important to manage the issues
with family, friends and relatives. It is essential for a healthy lifestyle that all work is conducted
in effective manner. From the DISC report, it was proved that there is need for life spatially. I
have taken other tests too like 123TEST which provided me to enhance my career opportunities.
It is analysed that there is need of focusing upon several learning so that I can enhance my career
opportunities. I have worked upon developing my career pathway effectively so that I can
developing and managing the business activities effectively so that goals are achieved. I have

I have the quality that I integrate with my colleagues and provide them proper guidance. I am
honest with the team and maintains relations. The productivity of the team increases when the
managers trust on the decisions taken by them. I believe that honesty and trust are two pillars of
the relationship and they keep the relations strong. I always keep my moral values strong as they
define the nature of the person. I am hard-working and always gives the best quality work so that
the employees working under me gets that it is important to deliver the best content. I treat
everyone equally and do not discriminate with them. I provide the training to my mentees so that
values of the organisation should be delegated to them. I motivate them to be helpful towards the
team members and communicate with they effectively (Makovec, 2018).

believe in a common vision. I used different types of leadership styles for motivating my team
members to accomplishment of business goals and objectives. I have analysed that leaders have

includes hiring, budgeting and paperwork. Also, there is requirement for performing diverse
activities and tasks. Also, I focus more upon monitoring and managing the goals as well as

workers avoiding big conflict issues. I believe in Gallup leadership theory which states that
leaders have to manage the operations and business activities. There is effective need of
managing the work by using leadership skills. As a leader, there are few regulations which I used
to follow. First of all, I took note in the morning to analyse what are the ways for improving the
skills and abilities of my team members in order to develop and manage the effectiveness of
work. There is need to manage the work experience and conduct several activities that will help
in increasing team involvement (Quinn, 2019). It is analysed by me that effective ways are used
by me while treating the team members effectively. There is need to evaluate different benefits
needed for developing strategies and planning in order to manage the completion of project.

for getting motivation. Under transformational leadership style, I use to identify various fecher
and change old tools and techniques with new ones (Flornes, 2017). This is helpful for me in
identification of different aspects as well as unlocking system approaches to use them in
particular situation. At particular time period, I use to replace old methods with new one in
relation to my life. This also promotes the working capacity in me where I can now work more
effectively on organisation. Along with this, I also used some methods and tools which are
associated with autocratic leadership style. This leadership style helped me using a well
discipline approach in organisation do that I can work in particular direction by establishing well
discipline environment. This help me in achieving my business objectives as well as personal
objectives in well defined manner. This also help me in development skills related to dictatorship
which can be use in future to guide other employee in organisation. I also used democratic
leadership style in my past carrier which also helped me in developing a separate perspective
about leadership quality. Under this leadership style, I use to take suggestion from my
subordinates and other staff member in relation to organisational decision. This is helpful to me
using suggestion in best suable manner, this also helps in identification of various other factors
which can be use to determine the effectiveness of decision. Using all these leadership style help
me in developing my skills and ability in different directions where I can use all these in
functioning of organisation in effective way. This will help me in my future because in can use
these skills to manage functioning.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
I have analysed that different stages of emotional intelligence including self awareness,
self regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. It is evaluated by me that I am having
essential to focus upon team management and leadership as it leads to manage the working of the
company in effective manner.
There are three kind of leadership style which was followed by me, this includes autocratic
leadership style, democratic leadership style and transformational leadership style. This is
important for to achieve my objective and become a good leader so that I can guide other
individual in right direction. This is because it help me in identification of my role and using it

and change old tools and techniques with new ones (Flornes, 2017). This is helpful for me in
identification of different aspects as well as unlocking system approaches to use them in
particular situation. At particular time period, I use to replace old methods with new one in
relation to my life. This also promotes the working capacity in me where I can now work more
effectively on organisation. Along with this, I also used some methods and tools which are
associated with autocratic leadership style. This leadership style helped me using a well
discipline approach in organisation do that I can work in particular direction by establishing well
discipline environment. This help me in achieving my business objectives as well as personal
objectives in well defined manner. This also help me in development skills related to dictatorship
which can be use in future to guide other employee in organisation. I also used democratic
leadership style in my past carrier which also helped me in developing a separate perspective
about leadership quality. Under this leadership style, I use to take suggestion from my
subordinates and other staff member in relation to organisational decision. This is helpful to me
using suggestion in best suable manner, this also helps in identification of various other factors
which can be use to determine the effectiveness of decision. Using all these leadership style help
me in developing my skills and ability in different directions where I can use all these in
functioning of organisation in effective way. This will help me in my future because in can use
these skills to manage functioning.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
I have analysed that different stages of emotional intelligence including self awareness,
self regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. It is evaluated by me that I am having

effective self awareness regarding different concepts. These help me to manage various activities
in proper manner. I keep myself motivating towards positive things when I feel low. Social
skills help me to manage the work and and activities properly. Empathy is another skill in which
I am excelling. When I was working in the company, there were several opportunities to manage
the functioning and business activities. There is need of proper management among these
different elements as they lead to effectiveness and efficiency (DiPaola and Wagner, 2018).

A LMPD session was held that I have attend and from there learned so many thing related to
management of team that how demonstrate, participate and manage your when you are a leader
of that team along with that I have understood the responsibilities of leader in order to
reviewing, overseeing and participating for safe selection and recruitment of employees. Then ,
applied all these thing on my team member and took initiative for managing them afterwards,
developed a procedure and practice which I implemented on staff members to support them for
development and retention because it ensures healthy, positive and safety environment at
workplace. Then I made a role model and promote a culture which values staff members in order
to secure their health and support them in balancing work life.
As a construction manager, I adopts a good leadership style to achieve high level
performance and for implement a culture of productivity improvement. With the aid of all these
styles of leadership I will be able to perform all my activities in an effective manner. I have so
many responsibilities like handling, designing, managing, planning and implanting of project
along with that a construction manager need to be multidisciplinary by nature and bear
capabilities to complete task or project in stipulated time and that I gained from this position
