INTRODUCTION
In every business entity, personal and professional development plan is necessary which
helps in attaining their goals and objectives (Continuing Personal and Professional Development
(CPPD), 2017). This plan helps in enhancing their learning and improve skills which succour in
reaping targets. This plan includes some activities like time management and many things. It
helps in improving the efficiency do do best work. The manager of business entity have to
provide proper training and development to their staff members which helps in maximising their
efficiency as well as knowledge (Alsop, 2013). The present report is based on Hilton Hotel
which is a global brand of full services of the hotels. In this report, different approaches of self
management learning has to be discussed.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self managed learning
Self managed learning is the technique which aid in learning many things so that I can do
the more improvements in my knowledge and skills. It succour in analysing the strength and
weakness of their own. There are some approaches by which I can do self management learning
in a proper manner. I can do more learning by using Internet, seminars and conferences as well
as mentoring and coaching. Internet helps in managing the knowledge as well as skills. There are
many links along with the web page which assist in improving the knowledge of the employees
and that they can use in doing work which helps in attaining targets (Apple, 2011). They can do
more self managed learning by using social media as it is a new platform which assist in
acquiring the sufficient values. Along with this it aid in improving the personality of the person.
By using self management learning, employees of Hilton Hotel increase the knowledge and by
that generate and share the new ideas which assist in doing the developments in the company and
by that they can attain their goals and objectives.
1.2 Ways in which lifelong learning in personal and professional contexts could be encouraged
There are various methods in which lifelong learning should be encouraged and it also
helps in enhancing my skills and employees also who are working in Hilton hotel. Lifelong
learning is that learning which helps in improving the knowledge.
Self direct learning: This process is used by the staff members of Hilton Hotel in which
individual person take the initiative to do good work whether it is done by taking help or doing it

own (Bates and et. al., 2014). This learning helps in making the correct decisions and by that
they can formulate the goals which aid in doing proper learning. By this method, they can
improve the performance in the market and complete the task in a proper manner.
Achievements and motivations: In this method, the managers conduct some activities which
are related to the task of employees of Hilton Hotel and that activity helps in motivating the
employees that they have to provide best services to their consumers. It will helps in increasing
the knowledge and skills of the employees. To provide the more encouragement, manager have
to give rewards to them on the basis of their performance and by that they can attain targets
(Thomas and Beauchamp, 2011).
1.3 Benefits of self managed learning to the individual and to the organisation
There are some benefits of the self management learning or mentoring as well as
coaching. It helps in developing the employees at every level. Self management learning or
mentoring helps in motivating the employees as well as ourself so that they can attain the goals
and objectives. Along with this it helps in developing or improving the leadership qualities on
the members of Hilton hotel. Mentoring along with the coaching aid in recognising the potential
employees as it assist in improving the productivity, proficiency. Moreover, it helps in providing
best and qualitative services to their consumers (Personal & Professional Development, 2017). A
mentor of the business entity helps the employees that they can learn about the culture which
they are following in the business enterprise. Organisation have to fulfil the needs and wants in a
efficient manner. Along with this they have to attain their target in a smart way. The manager of
Hilton Hotel have to provide the unique products and services to their consumers. Self manage
learning improves the behaviour as well as make changes to attain the goals (Clarke and Moore,
2013).
4.1 Work Based solution
As a manager of Hilton Hotel, I have to find all the problems which occurs in the
business entity whether it is related to employees. My fist goals is to select problem and try to
resolve them in a possible way. In Hilton hotel, there are various problems which are occurring
and for removing that they have to make effective solutions which are as:
Under performing staff: When manager of Hilton Hotel recruiting new employees in the
organisation then they have to provide proper and appropriate training which helps in increasing

the knowledge as well as skills. This help them in providing the best and qualitative services to
consumers which helps in increasing efficiency and performance (Postholm, 2012).
Poor communication between the employer and employees: The relationship of employees
and employer is necessary for Hilton Hotel which helps in increasing the effectiveness in their
relations. The higher authorities of Hilton Hotel have to recruit human resource manager which
assist in providing a medium in between the employees and employer of the business entity.
Moreover, they have to use proper e-mail system to transmit the message or to do
communication in Hilton hotel (Brody and Hadar, 2011).
4.2 Communication styles at various levels
Communication is a process which is used by managers to transmit the information to
their employees. There are different communication styles which the employees of Hilton hotel
can use at distinct level. They are:
Assertive: This style of communication helps in fulfilling the self esteem. The manager have to
transmit the message with a full confidence which help in attaining the targets. By using this
style the employees of Hilton hotel can do effective communication and by that they can not face
any problem.
Aggressive style: This style is not effective and in this manager convey the message not in a
calm way but in anger that's why employees face a problem that they they can not any guidance
related to their task (Cunningham, 2011).
Submissive style: This style helps in making communication effective as it avoid the conflict
between the employees as well as manager. Manager can convey proper message to their
employees. Moreover, manager can take feedback from the employees which helps in finding the
area where the staff members of Hilton hotel facing problem in doing work and after that they
have to provide training to them which helps in attaining targets.
4.3 Effective time management strategies
The main problem of Hilton hotel is that they are not providing the products and services
to their consumers in a appropriate time as it helps in decreasing the efficiency of the business
entity. Moreover, it reduces the goodwill also. So, manager of Hilton Hotel have to use effective
and correct strategy for the time management so that they can reap their goals and objectives.
The workers have to do proper research about the needs and wants of consumers and according
to that they have to manage their time (Easley, 2013). Further, they have to collect the

information that in every target consumer how much time they have to spent so that they can
manage their time and by that they can accomplish the goals. Proper planning and scheduling of
time management strategy needs to be done and all the planning should be done in a team so that
all the work should be managed properly and achieve targets in a efficient manner.

2.2 Own development needs and activities required to meet them
My development needs which I have to improve to attain targets and they are I have to
improve my communication skills at any place. For improving this skill, I have to do proper
communication with the employees which helps in improving this skills. I have to focus on my
needs as it helps in performing task in a efficient manner. For developing my skills as well as
knowledge I can use internet services, social sites. Along with this I can attend different
seminars. It helps in developing my skills and by using these skills I can complete my task and
attain targets. If I am improving my skills this will helps in providing motivation to me and by
that I can perform task in a well manner. If I am facing any problem or difficulty in improving
skills then I can do more research and by that I can increase my knowledge as it helps in
attaining my goals and objectives.
2.3 Opportunities to meet current needs
There are several ways in which I can get success in life but for that I have to focus on
my goals as well as market conditions which helps in influencing market conditions (Goodwyn,
2010). Some ways which helps in attaining success to me:
Get specific: I have to set my own targets so by doing good work I can achieve my short as well
as long terms in a specific time period. I have to ensure that my mind get not divert as by that I
can not achieve my target by arising some critical situations while doing work.
Focus on getting better, rather than being good: I have to believe on myself as it helps in
attaining goals and objectives. When I believe in myself then I can find my abilities and by I can
put more focus on work and improve mu knowledge along with the skills. I have to prove myself
so that I can gain new skills and using that I can improve my performance.
Be a realistic optimist: When I am setting my targets at that time I have to focus on my plan so
that it can be achieved easily. Through this I can believe on my skills and motivate myself to
achieve the targets within specified time period (Goodwyn, 2012).

2.4 Personal development plan
I have to set my own goals and objectives and by using specific skills I can achieve my
target within a specified time. For attaining my short term goals I have to achieve within 12
months. I have to attend the different seminars and training sessions properly which provides
knowledge to me so that I can attain my short term goals within a specified time. On the other
hand, I have to attain my long term objectives within a specified time and for that I have to use
my skills along with the knowledge so that I can attain my target. I have to do good work with
the higher authorities as it helps in increasing my knowledge and skills. By using appropriate
skills, I can resolve the problems which are generated in Hilton Hotel. I have to set my goals in
such a manner which can be changed in the dynamic environment. Along with this it helps in
attaining my targets in a specific time. If my short term goals are achieved then I can easily
achieve my long term targets also (Miller and Schulz, 2014).
3.1 Processes and activities required to implement the development Plan
The staff members of Hilton Hotel have to use proper process so that proper plan should
be implemented (Moon, 2014). They have to make to make and after that they have to provide
training to their staff members so that they can make proper and appropriate strategy. They have
to use their skills which aid in removing gaps. The manager of Hilton Hotel have to take
feedback from employees so that they can find the area where they require training and by that
they can attain success. I have to make my plan for achieving the goals and objectives (Personal
& Professional Development, 2017). My plan helps in improving the communication skills with
in a specified period by attending seminars, training sessions as well as conferences. Along with
this I have to talk properly with a expert person which helps in improving my communication
skills. My another skill is problem solving skill and I have to improve this skill. I have to listen
problem in a proper manner so that it can be resolved it helps to me in increasing my knowledge
along with the skills. I will implement my plan by using appropriate method that is priorities the
needs of mine to attain within a specified time. By this I can reap my objectives and I can
improve my skills along with this I can do effective communication in front of public.
3.2 Undertake and document development activities as planned
There are several measures on which I can do the improvements in my task so that I can
attain goals and objectives.

Punctuality – By using the appropriate and correct skills I have to complete my work on
time. Along with this I have to provide best and qualitative work to them as it help in improving
my skills also (Nelson and Johnson, 2014).
Observe personal habits – In Hilton hotel, to attain the success as well as improve the
performance in the market I have to avoid my bad habits as it is a barrier in attaining targets in a
specified time. If I am working on a computer in the business entity then I do not use any social
networking sites as it creates the distraction while doing best work and by that I can not achieve
my goal. So, I have to change my habits so that I can not face any problem and attain targets.
Check attitudes – In Hilton Hotel, I have to maintain positive attitude towards my work
as well as workplace which helps in reaping goals and objectives in a proper and appropriate
manner (Unsworth, 2014).
3.3 Own learning against original aims and objectives set in the development plan
The company members of Hilton Hotel have to set proper plan so that they can attain
their goals and objectives and at the time of setting proper and appropriate plan they can find
obstacles in the implementation process (Scaife, 2014). In the business entity there is a actual
gap between achievements as well as predicted goals and when they remove these gaps this helps
in attaining their targets as well as objectives. By the personal along with the professional
development plan I found that I am having a capability that I can do any type of work in a proper
and efficient manner which succour in providing strength to me in front of Hilton Hotel. When I
am analysing my strength by using SWOT analysis then I can work on my weaknesses to remove
that. Along with this I have to grasp opportunities which helps in improving my skills. To set the
goals whether it is long term and short term, this analysis helps in achieving my targets in a
appropriate manner and by that they can gain the experiences from the person who are leading in
Hilton Hotel (Desimone, 2011).
3.4 Update the development plan based on feedback and evaluation
Hilton Hotel have to take feedback from their consumers and on the basis of that
development plan should be updated. By doing the evaluation of the development plan, the staff
members of Hilton Hotel have to assess the needs and wants of the consumers and according to
that they have to change the process which helps in removing the gaps and attain targets (Maskit,
2011). By the feedbacks from the employees as well as consumers, they can find the area where
improvement is necessary. For improving the interpersonal skills they have to attend training

session which helps in personal development. If they want to do improvements then they have to
listen properly. Along with this manager of Hilton Hotel can evaluate the performance by using
their listening power. They have to do proper analysis by using their interpersonal skills which
helps in attaining the success and by that they can do their person as well as professional
development (Rubin, 2011).
CONCLUSION
From the above carried out analysis it has been inferred that the employees of Hilton
Hotel have to do self development which helps in attaining the success for the business entity as
well as it aid in improving the performance. They have to make proper personal and professional
development so that employees can do innovative work for the company so that they can reap
their goals and objectives. Moreover, they have to providing proper training sessions to their
employees so that they can not face any obstacles while doing work as it helps in attaining goals
and objectives as well as expanding the growth in the market.
