Introduction
Cloud computing is the best technology for improvement in various business
functions. It can improve the efficiency and performance of the company using
various techniques and services. There are various benefits of cloud-based services,
which make a huge impact on various things. In addition, innovations and
technologies have provided various features that can be helpful for the growth and
success of an organization.
This is a migration process to switch from the information system to cloud
computing. DAS has used a centralized system, which has various advantages.
Cloud-based services are also available from a single point. This program will
improve the performance and security of the data and information. In addition,
there are benefits of cloud-based services, as it provides a high level of security of
personal data using encryption and decryption technologies, such as DES, MD5,
IDEA, and many others (Lin, et al., 2017).
The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is a department that
provides various services to other departments of the Australian State Government.
In addition, DAS has included various services, which are payroll, HR, procurement,
personnel management, contract tendering management, and many others. This
report will focus on the privacy strategy for personal data, as the company has
shared its data centers with other departments. This report will provide
recommended privacy controls to the company for securing their data and
information. In this report, a personal data protection strategy will discuss in detail
as well as its controls.
Privacy strategy for personal data
DAS has collected a large amount of the data and information from various
data sources, as it has provided various services to the different departments of the
company. There are some basic needs of the company to improve its business
functions. The department has used personal data of employees and customers of

various departments. Thus, it has required a high level of security for the personal
data of employees in various departments (Sen, 2014).
In addition, DAS should adopt cloud-based services to improve their security
and privacy of personal data. Security Management Program (SMP) can provide
various advantages to the organization. Besides, the organization can adopt the
basic security policy to improve the security of their personal data. Security
strategy is necessary for the company to improve its security and privacy of
personal data. The organization has moved to a shared services approach to
providing centralized services for the whole of Government (WofG). DAS has used
that data for personal use as well as provide that data to another department for
their research and other works.
DAS has created a centralized database, which has used the particular
departments. DAS has responsible for the various privacy issues with the personal
data of the system. The DAS has decided to include cloud-based services to
improve its security levels of personal data. In addition, there are some strategic
policy changes for the government for the new systems.
Privacy is an important factor in government agencies. Therefore, DAS must
secure the personal data and information of the HR and performance management
system using various technologies. In addition, there are some basic risks of
information technology, which must mitigate using risk controls (Kaufman, 2009).
