INTRODUCTION
Personal development plan is very deep study for identifying skills, knowledge and
behaviour that sufficient or not for future and to achieve goal (Ashurst, 2017). This report will
cover specific learning needs addressing during academic year and review of all study. Further
will cover academic year study and what action plan is needed to complete for address all
required need and for fill gap. It also covers that research interest that research methodological
approaches and what challenges face during in entering higher education.
Learning need
I have learned throughout my need that many skills, knowledge and behaviour are not
present and it’s important for development. So firstly I have evaluated that many challenges
create barriers and comes during entering in higher education. According to PDP 1 that in
entering in health and social care I have faced many challenges like increasing cost, demand of
higher skills so its create situation that if required and actual needs gap is very high so its create
many problems. So personal development plan is helps in reduce problem and create strategy
that prepare to student according to future needs.
Specific learning needs – According to academic year I follow three steps for specific
learning needs that I identified required needs for entering in higher education of health and
social care. So I have identified skills, knowledge and behaviour that mandatory required like
communication and social service quality. After identified of required needs that I evaluate
actual skills a knowledge and behaviour available in me so I evaluate that according to required
needs I was very less abundant of knowledge and skills. So through last step I identified gap
between required and actual gap so its helps in make personal development plan and for reduce
gap between them I have taken training from expert of every field and its provide direction for
development and improve skills and knowledge (Barker, 2016).
Address this needs – In academic year through specific learning I made personal
development plan and I included my current skills, my target for accomplish and my result judge
it means that who judge my performance and give me result of my success and how much time I
have taken for improve my skills and knowledge.
So through specific learning needs shows that lack of presentation skills is present in me
so I think that it’s may be creates many problems in future so I noticed that sufficient
presentation skills is not present in me so I made target that I became good and effective

presenter and make effective presentation on patient safety that it attract whole students. It also
judged from director of my college and I improved this skill in 2 months. I also noticed that lack
of communication skills so I made target for improve my English communication in fluently
because I understand all things but I couldn't speak so I have started interact with my seniors and
professors and also they judged me so I improved this skill and I took only 6 months for develop
my English communication. Technical skills also less according to criteria of skills because it
demanded that high computer knowledge but I have only basic computer knowledge so I made
target that I joined better classes of computer and made project and it helped me in better way so
its evaluated by expert so that consume 1 month. One is also most important skill is mandatory
that was social working skills so I was improved and its helps to poor patients and future
development and improvement (Blažun, Kokol and Vošner, 2015).
Research interests that helpful in future years
Throughout my academic year I identified that many research interest that mandatory for
health and social care because its helps in future years because health and social care is health
and social care staff so they has to keep many and descriptive knowledge is mandatory. It means
that qualitative and quantitative knowledge and skills is compulsory. I identified many research
interest that helps in future development and following research interest is compulsory for health
and social care:-
Communication skills – I have identified that solid communication is very necessary for
health and social care because in health and social care students has to good communication
skills with both quality like speaking and listening. It has also good problem solver of patients
and family of patients. Health and social care staff always interact with different type of people
and different region of people so it has knowledge about all things and also strong
communication skills.
Flexibility – I identified that it also very important research interest area because service
providres has to flexible nature about time and responsibilities. If it has done work in overtime so
it works and fulfil their responsibilities about patients. So it helps in future development as well
as experience that useful in improve skills and knowledge (Fain, 2017).
Interpersonal skills – through academic year I identified that interpersonal skills is
important because they provide services and it also works with different types of people with
different situation. It also works with hospitals clinics. Nurses also analyse patient problem and

solve it so it’s helpful in improve knowledge and skills and it’s also useful for make personal
development plan for future and increase effective and efficient health and social care.
Problem solving skills – it is very major skills that mandatory for members of service
staffs because through academic study I think that they interact and meet with different types of
people with different cases so it has skills of problem solving because sometimes they have to
face tricky situation so it has to complete knowledge of solve tricky cases that it is a very
important for improve future development and also helpful in effective plan.
Knowledge about policies of health and social care – from academic year I identified
that members who include in this sector for provide services to peoples has need of all
knowledge about policies and procedure because health care services is very complex process so
risk management is very mandatory matter and if they work for any healthcare so it has to take
license. It also helpful in follows safety rules of workplace and high quality patient’s care. So all
rules, regulation and policies follows and also knowledge about make strategy for future
development and increase personal development plan for improve skills and knowledge
(Fernandez, Samy and Gonzalez, 2016).

Through this module I was face many challenges in entering in higher education and I
use Gibbs modal for reflective cycle. This modal encourage to people for think systematic
about any situation and activity and then make plan. It put positive effect on event. This modal
includes six steps that complete reflective cycle. Steps like description, feelings, evaluation,
analysis, conclusion, action play.
Description – Through this step I descriptive all situation and event in detailed and in
this step I explained that what skill and knowledge required and actual skills and knowledge
present in me so I was make personal development plan so its helps in improve and develop
skills and knowledge. So all details including purpose is understand the situation that is relevant
or not (Middleton and Llewellyn, 2016).
Feelings – In this step I identified that feel pain of patients is necessary so members of
health and social care also has to feel according to situation because many emergency cases
come so they has to handle tricky situation and feel patients problem and solve it. So through this
modal individual check and monitor to own.
Evaluation – Through first step of this modal individual evaluate that experience is good
or bad. Through this step individual easily evaluate that situation is good or bad and then
evaluate that difficult or not to achieve objective. So it’s also helps in calculate bad experience.
But I have a good experience so its helps in improve myself for future development and improve
my skills and knowledge.
Analysis – According to this step individual learned about situation and they also
determine that according to this situation it also pre determine that same things create in future
situation. It also analyses that both positive and negative things. So I was also evaluated that
problem face in entering higher education and plan about it for success.
Conclusion – Through this step individual conclude that about negative and positive
experience from situation and event and what step will be taken if this same situation occurs in
the future. It also helps in that skills needs to develop for face similar events. So I also learn
many things through conclusion of situation.
Action plan – It a last situation of this modal and its focus on that according to situation
action plan prepare is very important for improve skills and knowledge (Turky, 2016).

CONCLUSION
From above study it has been summarized that specific needs of development important
for improve skills and knowledge according to needs. It is also very useful to make personal
development plan which help in future and it also covered that research area is very wide so
many skills and policies that has to keep in mind. With the use of Gibbs model I was able to
identify my required areas where improvement is needed.
