1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development, and the transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal learning and development
Professional and academic skills are the abilities that helps to achieve success in various
areas of life. The academic skills include communication, listening, ability to pay attention
during long and boring lectures, data analysis and writing skills. The professional skills are the
career proficiencies and knowledge that are beneficial for the job and tasks at the work place
(Maharaja, 2018). The professional skills are a combination of the academic skills and the job
specified duties.
I think my approach towards the personal learning and development has been very
positive in developing my overall performance in different areas. I personally use the social
learning theory as I believe we can produce better results when we include social elements into
activities. This strategy of learning posses a knowledge sharing culture and this cultivation of
knowledge can be very beneficial for my future growth. I observe the ideas that bounce around
me at various places and highlight the important viewpoints. This learning method can have
different sources and maybe every person can teach me something that might be useful at some
point in my future. Due to the fact that it observes different viewpoints of people, it helps me to
understand the thinking of other people and their perspectives and ideas for different topics (Besi
and Sakellariou, 2019). This strategy allows me to compare my thinking and knowledge with
other brains and acquire wide range of knowledge. This helps me to bring better outcomes and
results and enhance my overall performance and development.
One of the biggest benefit of the social learning is that it has developed my social
engagement. I feel it is more fun and interesting when the learners are engaged with each other
and share their thoughts. It has developed my interaction skills and the ability to abstract
important information from the surroundings and enhance my ideas and creativity to solve

problems and tackle challenges in life. The other important aspect of the social learning is that it
has improved my communication skills especially during group talks. I felt it difficult to ask
questions and share my views but after adopting this strategy I have developed the ability to ask
questions and express my views during discussions. This way I can be more active in the team
and clarify my issues and give suggestions. It has proved to be quite beneficial for me in order to
share information and have better understanding of the topic. Apart from my personal
development, I can also develop my ability to make collaborations and gain competitive
advantage when it comes to getting support from other teammates. Learning with others may
provide easier collaborations and open up new opportunities. That is why I focus on creating
value relations during my interaction with others as it can benefit me in future as well (Roche,
2018).
I believe that social learning is more beneficial for the modern learners. It contains
variety and moreover, the recent trends and news that can be impactful. In addition, I feel that in
understanding the current trends, social learning can be the best idea to gain knowledge and
position thoughts.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed by attending this
module
The transferable skills are the skills that can be transferred from one job to another. There
are various transferable skills that I have developed to enhance my overall performance (Gillian-
Daniel and et.al., 2021). These skills are flexible and very beneficial in all types of jobs and
create a good impression as a professional on the seniors. These skills are- communication
skills that have helped me to ensure that everyone can understand what I want to say and I can
understand them as well. They have helped me to create a better understanding of the perspective
of other individuals. I can improve relationship with other individuals and my convincing power
can help me in gaining the desired support from them. It has proven to me as a big competitive
advantage as well.
Leadership skills have improved my decision making and management ability. As a leader I
have to consider so many aspects at once and this has effectively improved my multi tasking
ability and management ability. It has helped me to make better interaction the teammates and

solve problems of individuals and carry the work load along with maintaining the performance of
others teammates. It has developed a sense of responsibility in me and my concern towards other
teammates and enhanced my ability to bring out good results not just as an individual but for an
entire team as well. Problem solving has definitely improved my ability to handle critical
situations and develop my mental ability. It has developed my brain power in analysing the risk
metrics and finding solutions for complex problems. My thinking skills have developed and I an
ensure a variety of solutions for different problems that I may face. It has changed my attitude
towards the critical tasks and increases my creativity and find unique ideas in complex situations.
Time management is one of the most crucial skills that I have developed during my
studies and has proved to be very successful for me in managing my work- life balance. It has
helped me to become more organized and disciplined. It developed me as a better performer in
bulk loaded activities against my competitors and reduce the work stress from my head
(Piotrowska, 2019). Having a better time management skill have been helpful for me to perform
better as an individual and bring out the desired outcome in busy schedules and save myself from
unnecessary stress and burden. The organizational skills are effective at the workplace in being
organized at the workplace and make the work process more convenient and focus on the main
priority. It has enhanced my brain to become clear of the particular task and finishing it with
better efficiency with the help of effective planning. I can minimize the efforts that I have to put
in and adjust time along with it by properly organizing my work. It can certainly improve my
performance at the workplace.
Decision- making is also one of the transferable skills that I have developed in the past.
It has enhanced my ability to create my own viewpoints and execute my ideas. Decision making
requires a lot of confidence to implement and take steps considering the risk factors and failures.
It has enhanced my ability to perform task with own thoughts and creativity and sharpen my
ability to solve problems and become self dependent at the work place.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies, personal life and the
workplace
There are variety of skills that can improve my performance in different areas of life at
personal, professional and academic level. These skills can heighten my ability become a better
and a well arranged individual in different fields (Yen and et.al., 2022). There are different areas

where particular skills may advance me in doing tasks more conveniently. Some skills that I
would like to develop to improve my ability to perform specific tasks are- Writing skills, as it
can advance my ability to effectively note down the content in an well organized manner. It is
crucial for me to develop effective writing skills in order to create understandable content and
influence the readers in the best possible manner. Writing skills can help me arrange my plans
and strategies and create an arranged schedule for further tasks. Writing down things and ideas is
an effective method to manage the work.
Adaptability skill is something that I would like to focus as it is a necessary skill to have
in today's versatile environment. The trends, policies, ideas and environment changes so quickly
and it can demand different type of work ethics and process at any time. Having a good
adaptability skill can ensure that I can adjust in different situations with ease and quickly learn
and manage the work. It can increase my ability to adjust myself at a new place with different
work ethics. Research skills can be quite crucial during handling unfamiliar tasks. Doing the
right research and implementing the plan can play a key role in achieving the right objectives.
Understanding tasks may require adequate research and developing this skill can improve my
ability to collect data in an arranged manner and analyse the given task more efficiently (Peng
and Kievit, 2020). It is an important skill in developing my overall performance at the workplace
and make better recommendations regarding various tasks. Speaking skills are advantageous in
all the areas of the life including personal and professional levels. Effective speaking skills can
impress people and help in convincing the listeners better. It can create a competitive advantage
for me as I can gain positive feedbacks by having better and influential communication
(Piotrowska, 2019). It can also positively effect my attitude towards others and the way they
others about me as person.
