1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development, and the
transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal learning and
development
Personal development refers to the process and procedure through which an
individual enhances and develops in several aspects. This particular process is concerned
with the focus on a person and their skills through which the overall identity of the person is
enhanced. The personal learning refers to the process of enhancing the personality by
learning new set of skills and gaining knowledge. The approach that I follow in my life for
personal development is derived from the constant setting of goal where I set up short term,
medium term and long term goals and further evaluate them so that I can effectively attain
those goals in the professional and academic life (Gopane, 2018). Further my approach is to
get a training and development classes where I will focus on the areas in which I currently
lack. To emphasize personal learning I will further execute social learning theory which will
help me in learning and developing personality with the help of observation. This theory will
be helpful in learning additional behavior which will help in developing my personality.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed by
attending this module
Transferable skills refers to the capabilities that an individual have which helps in
developing the personality while pursuing the education. There are several skills that can be
learnt through different trainings and sessions. Further I have developed several transferable
skills that will help me in developing my personality along with the module that I am
currently learning through, few such skills are discussed below:
Communication skills- These refers to the skills that define the capability of the individual
to put their opinion in front of other people. The effective communication is established
between two people by clearly explaining the opinion. This can be done in a verbal and
written manner and I have developed both of these skills during my module which will be
helpful for me in my academic and professional life. I also learnt that effective
communication is one of the major ability that helps the person in growing through lifetime.

It is helpful for me as I will be able to clearly communicate the information and further I will
be able to give clarity about the information to other people in the organization and institute.
My written communication abilities are also enhanced as I have developed an ability to write
information in the documents in a very informative and precise manner which depicts the
exact message that needs to be communicated to the other person (Alajmi, 2019). The on
point conversation in professional life along with a maintenance of formal format is essential
which I have learnt during my module learning.
Leadership skills- This refers to the ability of the person to lead the team and people so that
the desired objective and goal can be achieved in the business. Leadership is one of the major
quality that is required in managing the team at the university and in the organization. Further
through this module I was able to develop apply the leadership skills in the university which
will help me in the professional life that is the business and management sector. The major
part of leadership is based on motivation, I learnt how to motivate people so that they can
deliver the best efficiency along with maximum productivity in completion of the work. I
developed this skill through active participation and collaboration in the team activities of the
module. The leaders are the running motivation of the employees who help in increasing the
productivity of the organization. The skill that I learnt also requires active listening which is
mandatory as the opinions of other people are considered in this process. With effective
leadership the individual develops several other qualities as well such as discipline,
punctuality etc which helps the individual in long term perspective.
Critical thinking- This refers to the ability of an individual to evaluate several facts and
critically think and come to a judgment (Kurbanova, 2019). Critical thinking is one of that
skill that us helpful in both professional and personal life. While studying in this module I
developed this skills which helped me in making decisions in critical situations. The
decisions that are made should be purpose driven which will help me in logically coming to a
solution of the problem that is there in the professional work.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies, personal life
and the workplace
There are certain skills which I need to develop in order to sustain in the competitive
industry. I can only gain a good competitive edge over the other candidate if I am able to
develop these skills and master this skills in the module so that my productivity in the

academic and professional life will increase. Some of the skills that I will develop are
discussed below:
Technical skills- These refers to the ability of the person to perform and apply digital
technology and skills in the work that the individual is doing. I must develop technical skills
so that I can cope up with the world where technology is becoming a big priority. This is
helpful as it helps in increasing the efficiency and productivity in the individuals. The
organization objective can be achieved by me if I am able to apply my technical knowledge
in the areas where the business is currently looking to develop. This will also be helpful in
driving confidence in the service that I provide to the company in which I will serve as an
employee (Trinidad and et. al., 2021). Technical skills are also helpful in job roles such as
HR, Marketing and finance where the operations are managed with the help of different
applications and social media platforms.
Teamwork- This is another aspect through which the individuals work together in order to
bring productivity in the business. The coordination is one of the major aspect through which
my colleagues and I will be able to deliver the results in the business. This is one of the major
skill that I need to develop after the module so that I can work on projects in the university as
well as in my professional life. Teamwork is one of the most basic skill that is expected in the
candidates that are applying for the job and therefore I need to develop this skill in me.
Time management- The ability of the individual to manage and schedule the work and
projects on time refers to time management. This is one of the most basic skill that is used by
every person in their personal and professional life which ensures that the right amount of
time is dedicated to different activities (TAN HOI, and et. al., 2020). I will be required to
manage the time and complete the office work so that I can deliver the expected results.
Further I need to manage my personal life along with the work life, therefore the balance will
be maintained based on this skill. I will be able to diversify my tasks on the basis of
importance of the tasks which will help me in managing all the required tasks and meeting all
the deadlines that is assigned to me. This will also help me in removal of wastage of time on
different distractions.
