1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development,
and the transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal
learning and development
Personal development can be understood as the catchphrase oftentimes
utilized by scholars, colleagues, mentors or even my family members. In a regular
setting, personal development refers a phrase that delineates to activities planned to
enhance talents, employability, potential as well as wealth. This means that anytime
when I consciously putting efforts to enhance myself that means I am participating in
my personal growth and development. It allows me to become the best version of
myself, giving me knowledge, skills and abilities and confidence essential to
maneuver any situation. Personal learning and development does not only refer to
enhancing the individual aspects of out regular lives, but it is also applicable in
professional development (Aaron and et.al., 2021). It helps me to take steps further
towards my career and the knowledge to become a productive and well-rounded
employee. By growing in such a way, it would help me in getting promotion at my
workplace. As one person have worked for day in and day out or going further to
boost the skills set will help in creating more opportunities to success. Personal
learning and development will also help me in getting my full potential and enhance
the overall quality of life. It supports me in getting my biggest dreams and goals of
life can come true. It is a life-long process where a person never stops to learn and
develop. I should motivate to be the best version of myself while analyzing some key
skills and traits that are essential to realize my life aspirations and targets. Hence,
personal learning and development also help me in realizing my strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Self-reflection is an important part of
personal development.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed
by attending this module
While attending this module, I got the opportunities to develop and improve
my various key skills, knowledge and abilities that would further help me in getting
my dreams and aspirations fulfilled. Some of the main areas where I have grown
myself are as follows:
Communication skills: As I want to grow my career in business and
management field, this is an area where work is completed in a collaborative
manner, where all members are delegated themselves to attain shared and
common goals. I also grabbed the opportunity to work in a team or group
where all members put their efforts, opinions or perspectives to work on
something which helped me increasing my communication skills.
Time-management skills: There were various tasks and assignments given
by my mentors or tutors in which I had to work before deadlines crossed. By
completing my work on time and before time helped me in developing time-
management skills (AZARENKOVA, 2020).
Listening skills: While attending this module, I have came to across with
many peoples who have diverse opinions, perceptions and thoughts. This

module had gave me the chance to develop an effective listening skills
through I could be able to listen others' ideas and to communicate well with
them.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies,
personal life and the workplace
Attending this module also help me in realizing where I am lacking, what are
my weaknesses and threats and what are the areas where I can grow and develop
my full potential to fulfill my dream in business and management. Some of the prime
areas where I can see opportunity to grow and develop are mentioned below:
Leadership skills: This is regarded as one of the key skills in a business
manager. I think I should develop this skill in order to lead, direct, influence
and motivate my team-members to attain the shared goals and objectives.
Leadership skills are important to guide and influence others to be productive
at work.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills: In a workplace setting, there is
always a time when team-members facing issues or problems with each other
which leads to conflicts among them. In order to become a good business
manager, there is a necessity to develop such kind of skills within me so that I
can offer best solutions to such issues (Berry, 2019).
Creativity and innovation: It is one of the chief skills that should be found in
a successful business manager. As the business environment is full of
challenges and dynamics, there is a necessity to have creative and innovative
solutions so that targets can be accomplished and customers attention can
also be attained for the business.
