Introduction
Personal development is important to develop necessary skills and competencies in order
to grow in the current competitive job market. To make a successful career, it is imperative to
learn new skills that will further contribute in enhancing the performance in an efficient manner.
For this purpose, a personal development plan is prepared which makes a person enable to work
on the weak areas in order to ensure future growth (Debognies and et. al., 2019). The present
study is a reflection that will include the opportunities of personal career development. It will
cover the significance of enhancing my academic and professional skills to attain growth in the
field of business management. Further, it will cover the approach of personal development and
the measures I will take during implementation of changes in future. Also, the study will include
the way to transfer my skills in the work environment.

Academic Skills: These are the skills which are required to be a good student. It includes
skills such as project making, assignment preparation, research, learning, presentation, time
management and more. To attain a good grade, it is imperative to have necessary academic
skills. Basically, academic skills are the aspects which are learned by the students while studying
in an institute. It provides them the learning opportunity that further helps in completing the
course with good grades (Bachik and Kitzma, 2020). Developing academic skills will help me to
become a good learner who will able to prepare a systematic and well-structure report and
presentations. This skills will also boost my level of confidence so that I can easily grow in the
my future career in an efficient manner. Delivering presentations will make me enable to deal
with my stage fear and also create opportunities for me of future growth.
Professional Skills: Professional skills are those which can help a person to grow in a job.
It is a habit or competency that positively affects the overall performance of an individual.
Having necessary professional skills makes a person capable enough to grab the growth
opportunities at workplace (Neiles and Bowers, 2020). For me, the major professional skills

which I am looking forward to develop are communication, presentation, time management and
more. Developing professional skills will help me in making an unique identity at workplace. I
can easily compete with my peers and grab the opportunity of promotion in an efficient manner.
Here, professional skills will not help me in growing in my current job but will also make me
enable to enhance my overall competencies as a professional.

Approaches to personal learning
How has it changed
I analyzed that I am lacking in different areas such as communication, research, time
management and more. Here, certain approaches have been determined by me to improve in the
areas I am lacking. Now, I have changes my approaches by joining the virtual session instead of
face to face learning. It will help me in saving my time of travelling from one place to other.

Here, I can also concentrate on my studies while working on improvement on other necessary
skills. Additionally, it has been realized that I am more inclined towards the visuals. Hence, I
prefer to learn via visuals, graphics and videos rather gaining insights from theory. It will save
my time and efforts and will make me enable to understand the concept in a better way.
Measures you are planning when implementing the further changes
While implementing the changes, I will review my performance at each and every stage.
Here, I will set certain pre-define standards. These standards will act as benchmarks to evaluate
my future performance. While setting standards, I will consider my potential and capabilities.
Further, I will compare my actual performance with the standards so that I can take suitable
corrective actions in future period of time. For improvement, I will study hard and raise the
query during the virtual sessions. I will make a proper schedule so that I can maintain
coordination in my daily activities and online studies. This coordination will make me enable to
implement the changes in an efficient manner.
How these skills will transfer to work environment
During personal analysis, I found that I am not good enough in ample of skills. I realized
that my communication, research and time management skills are not up to the mark. Hence, it is
decided by me to work on my weak areas so that I can grow in career in future period of time.
Communication skills are important to make a distinct presence in the workplace. This skill is
crucial to interact with others in an impressive way. In addition, it is possible to handle different
workplace issues by maintaining proper communication. I attended sessions to improve my
communication skills. Now, I can use my communication skills to interact with my peers and
seniors at workplace. This will help me in minimizing the ambiguity at the workplace. For
instance, I used my ability of communication to resolve the issue of the shareholders and the
company. Here, I act as a bridge between the organization and shareholders to facilitate effective
communication between both the parties.
I also work on my research skills that is important to prepare effective strategies for
success of the entity. I can use this skill to gather necessary information from market which will
further make me enable to structure efficient plans for future betterment of the company. For
instance, I gave valuable suggestions to the top level managers of my company in strategy

development. Through my research skills, I was able to collect necessary data and information
that will also prove beneficial for the organization in future period of time.
During the personal analysis, I realize the requirement to improve my time management
skills. This skills will further assist me in preparing an appropriate schedule for accomplishment
of assigned projects. Due to improvement in my time management capabilities, now, I am able to
achieve the targets on the stipulated deadlines which is important for organization growth.

Conclusion
It is analyzed through above-mentioned information that personal development is crucial
to improve the skills and competencies for career enrichment. I realized that improvement in
academic and professional skills will help me in gaining better growth opportunities in future
period of time. Further, I change the approach of personal learning by shifting on virtual and
visual learning. I also used my competencies for betterment of the organization.
