1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development, and the transferable skills 1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal learning and development For any student or individual, it is imperative to measure self growth by identifying personal strengths and weakness and taking suitable and corrective measures to improve personal skills and enhance knowledge for personal development. Individuals are required to develop personal skills such as communication skills , reading skills, problem solving skills or teamwork etc.(Luca and et. al., 2022).These skills are learnt at academic level or before completing the graduation. The basic and personal skills help the individuals while going to become professional and contribute in learning advance and professional skills as well. For career advancement, they are required to develop both personal as well as professional skills. It will ensure top job opportunities in big companies that hire skilful and talented individuals for better completion of tasks and assignments. So, individuals are required to develop various professional skills as well such as IT skills, technical skills, Leadership skills and decision making skills etc. These skills should be learnt apart from the skills related to the area of specialization of individuals such as Finance, Medicine, Law or marketing etc.(Zhu, 2022). My approach to personal learning and development includeslearning the skills that will help me in professional advancement as I want to pursue business management course to become an effective and prudent manager. For this, I have to develop various personal as well as professional skills. My reading and problem solving skills are strong enough as I solve various practicals and case studies. But I want to enhancecommunicationandtechnicalskillstobefitintheroleofBusiness Manager. At the same time, I need to develop leadership as well as flexibility skills to develop my ability to meet the uncertainties of future in my career and in the future organization as well. 1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed by attending this module Transferable skills refer to those skills that the individuals are required to develop for their job career. It does not have to do with any particular job or field, these skills are 3
required for every job role(Jackson, Davidson and Usher, 2022). Transferable skills include hard as well as soft skills. Hard skills include data analytical skills, technical skills and decision making skills etc. Soft skills include communication skills, problem solving skills, teamwork skills, time management, leadership and creativity skills etc. Individuals are required to develop these transferable skills for getting better job opportunities to get success in their career by personal learning and development(Bennett, 2022). For attending this module i.e.“Personal learning and development”, I have used my already developed skills that isreading skillsand data analytical skills. These skills were developed at academic level when I was given various assignments by my teacher to make reports by market research by which I am able to develop data analytical as well as effective reading skills. I have also used Teamwork skillsin attending this module as I have prepared this module with the help of my team members. I possess teamwork skills as I am able to interact with my team members and present my perspective regarding the topics of my interests. I am also good in maintaining collaboration in team work right from the academic level when I was given the group assignments that I would be able to complete successfully with the help of effective teamworking skills. I had also developedcreativity skillsbefore attending this module that I have used in attending this module as well. These skills are developed by presenting new ideas and critical thinking. It can be done by referring to various personal development books so as to become efficient at reading. For example, I read various business magazines, articles and other business journals to learn about contemporary business practices to remain innovative to develop new ideas. I am also able to developTime management skillsby attending the conferences and seminars virtually for timely completion of my projects and assignments. 1.3 Skills I would like todevelop during my academic studies, personal life and the workplace I have already developed some of the basic and personal skills such as reading and innovative skills, Time management and teamwork skills. But I am required to develop more professional skills for professional advancement and for getting better job opportunities to ensure success in my career. As, I have chosen the profession of business management, I have to developLeadership skillsto become effective manager who is required to direct and monitor the employees to motivate them for taking the tasks up.
