1.0 Self-reflection on personal learning and development,
and the transferable skills
1.1 Identification and reflection on my approach to personal
learning and development
I have used a very simple approach in my learning which directly helps in the
development of personal skills and these skills can be further used by me in my
profession career. Employability is one of the major factor in the life of the student as
after completing the academic studies, it is essential for the student to secure a good
job using his skills and talents. The portfolio that is used by me to attract the
recruiters is helpful in represents various skills and capabilities that are required for
the respective job (Andika and et. al., 2021). Employability portfolio refers to the
collection of sample of work and evidence of the achievement in the career, in an
organized manner so the portfolio can look more attractive. The above portfolio is
made as an online copy or binder. This is an essential document as it is used to
present several evidence of the skills and capabilities in attractive manner to the
potential employers. The employability portfolio is a document which consists of
several types of material that supports the background and skills of the individuals.
The main elements are summary of the career, short biography, marketable skills,
resume, professional accomplishments and sample of work that is done by the
individual during his lifetime. This is one of the most important document which helps
the individuals in the process to stand out from the competition. The attention of the
employers is attracted by using various types of techniques through which the
document looks more presentable. Organizing of all the career history, skills and
work progress helps in achieving the required goals and objectives of the individual.
This helps individual to match the standards of the requirement in the selection
process.
1.2 Identification of the transferable skills I have already developed
by attending this module
I have developed several skills by attending this module, skills such as Interpersonal
skills which will help me in every aspect of the profession. Further this skill would
help me to develop good relations with the employees and managers of the
organization in which I will be working in the future. Further I also developed team
building and management skills in this module which helps in managing the work in a
more efficient and effective manner (Micallef and Kayyali, 2019). These skills are
required while working in a team as the work needs be managed well and the
authority and responsibility is delegated among the other members of the team. The
evidence of the skills used in the management process is essential and is connected
with the commercial awareness needed by the individual for managing the staff and
attaining the required objectives. Through commercial awareness the individual
generates the knowledge of the specific industry, the information about the external
factors that affect the profitability structure of the tourism business. The other skill
that is the ability of the individual to organize the activities in the organization, this is
one of the major skill for which the recruiter looks in the employees. Further
delegation of the authority and responsibility is one of the major area in which the

individual should master so that they can show that in the employability portfolio. The
other skill that is essential is working under the several conditions and pressure so
that the recruiter can be sure that the individual can deal with different types of
situations that may come in the course of business (Natin, 2021). Another ability
through which the effective organizing skills are shown is completion of tasks in the
allotted time. Further the evidence of other skills such as communication is through
the ways in which the individual verbally communicate and write reports on different
types of academic topics. The evidence for the team building skills is the ability to
manage the work well while working with several people that are working in the
team.
1.3 Skills I would like to develop during my academic studies,
personal life and the workplace
I would like to develop skills such as critical thinking and decision making as it is
essential these days’ in the organization. Making the best decision out of the several
situations in the business is one of the most important thing. This helps in the growth
prospects of the career as the more skills exhibited in the employee is directly
proportionate to the growth of the employee in that industry (Vermunt and et. al.,
2019). Further the technical skills and time management skills are the skills that I
need to develop as it ascertains the professionalism of the individual in the
respective field.
