Introduction
It is essential for a individual to develop personal and professional skills well so that they
can start their professional career and gain higher growth. Most of the individuals make plans,
take actions and control their actions for better academic learning (Beeson, 2020). The best way
to learn better is self assessment where a learner analyse their own performance honestly and
analyse what are their strengths and weaknesses. This will further help them to improve their
weak skills and convert them into their strengths. There are few of the skills which are required
by individuals to develop well like communication skill to interact with people in effective
manner, time management skill to manage time for each task and activities, and many others.
The following report covers the ways in which development of academic and professional skills
will help to a manage a business and personal learning approaches, development of skills.

How the development of academic and professional skills will help advance your career in
Business Management
I need to learn few academic and professional skills which will further help me to manage my
career in business management. These skills are mentioned below-
Communication skill- This is the skill which is used to share ideas and information
appropriately to others so that they can understand the message clearly. According to me I can
develop this skill by interacting more with people and observe the way which they used to
communicate effectively (Hossain, 2021). I can also develop this skill by watching You Tube
videos on effective communication. This skill will help me in my building good career in
business management because it is essential to convey proper message which consist of complete
and precise message to others to mitigate confusion and misunderstand related to business
information. In case I develop this skill well then I can communicate effective message to other
employees which will further help me to manage my business effectively.
Time management skill- This is the skill which help in managing effective time for each
task and activities so that it will get completed on time. I can develop this skill by preparing a

time chart of my each activity which covers my daily routine and time covered by each task so
that I can maintain good discipline and complete each task on time. Secondly, preparing a
priority list which contain that which work should be done first and which one later according to
task's importance will also help me to enhance time management skill effectively. This skill will
help me to build my effective career in business management where I can complete my each task
which is assigned by my manager on time to avoid crossing dead line of time (Muhammad and
et. al., 2017). This will further help me to grow well in my professional career.
Problem solving skill- It is one of the most essential skill in academic and professional
career. I can develop this skill my making some decisions in daily life and measure performance
about the efficiency of decision. In case the issue did not get resolved appropriately after making
decision then the decision which I have taken is ineffective and in case the problem get resolved
after taking the decision then I have took good decision. It is essential for me to analyse the
strength and weakness of decision which I supposed to made to resolve any problem. This will
further help me in building and managing my business effectively because there are various kind
of issues in professional career, its upon me to tackle each issue and obstacle effectively and
continue to work. Business management need to make those solutions which help them to
enhance their productivity and profitability. Hence, my problem solving skill will help me to
solve those obstacles and issues clearly to achieve organisational target.
What your approach is to personal learning
Few years back my learning style was different which include only theoretical learning
but now it has changed and now I am able to learn through new learning approach that both
theoretical as well as practical knowledge is essential for learning. Self assessment is one of the
most important part of analysing performance and analyse what are strengths and weakness of
myself so that I can make changes to convert my weakness into my strengths and opportunities
to grow (Swart, 2018).
When implementing further changes in my learning I would like to focus on further change
which are mentioned below-
 I would like to make sure that I can complete my all task and activities on time by
preparing a time chart and a priority list which consist of doing those activities first
which are important.

 Secondly, I would also conduct my self assessment on regular basis to analyse my
strength and weakness so that I can make effective measures to improve my weak skills.
 I would also like to include digital learning in my habit where I have to use digital
channels like You Tube, online classes, virtual learning and many others to enhance my
learning knowledge.
 I can also learn through visiting various places like historical places and gather
information from such tours will help me to learn the concept of topic for longer period
of time.
 Personal development plan also help me to enhance my weak skills which will further
help me to enhance my professional career.
 Performing experiments in physical and chemistry lab will help to gain interest in
learning styles and making business models will further help me to generate new idea for
entrepreneurship.
 I must make sure that I should not only focus on bookish learnings but I can practically
apply the topics in my real life example. I should also try to provide real life example for
each topic which I learn. Learning concept is essential.
The skills you have already developed
Few of the personal and academic skills can be transferred to the work environment
effectively to enhance professional career. These skills and how they help in maintaining good
work environment is mentioned below-
Presentation skill- I have already developed this skill in my academic career where I
have learned how effectively a individual is required to present their power point presentation in-
front of others. This skill will help me in my professional career where it might be possible that
the manager ask me to present annual report in official meetings (Kearns, 2019). Hence, here this
skill help me to mitigate my nervousness and shyness in-front of crowd and help me to present
the reports effectively. I have already learned that official presentations should contain short
contents in the slides of PPT and must be explained in effective manner. I also learned that
formal dressing and using formal communication is most important while presenting any report
in-front of others.
Critical thinking skill- I have already developed this skill. This is the skill which
involve to solve any problem by new ideas. This skill can be transferred in my working

environment at organisation by analysing the issues and problems well. This skill will help me to
sort out the issues well and continue to work in organisation in the manner or process which
consist easier way to achieve given target. For example, in case my boss provide me to sale 30
units of product to targeted customers within 30 days then I will ask them to share their
customers list and I will evaluate which customers purchase the given product on daily basis and
then I will communicate with those customers only who are interested in particular product and
purchase it on daily basis and then I will sale it to them (Alajmi, 2019).
Conclusion
From the above information it is concluded that learning academic and professional skills
will help me to enhance my professional career. Communication skill is one of the most essential
skill which help to analyse that how should I convey my message in such a way which will help
others to understand it easily. Secondly, time management skill is used to analyse how much
time is required to which task and activities. It is also concluded that new learning concepts and
ideas help me to learn the concepts clearly. I can take the help of You Tube, digital learning and
many others in my day to day life and can focus on gaining practical knowledge. It is also
concluded that I can use few of may skills in gaining the advantage in my professional career
aim.
