Introduction Personal development planning is process about determining individual life goals for further developmentof overallpersonalityandprofessionalcareer.Itis an important exercise which is necessary to conduct by all different individuals for the purpose of gaining success in career path. This includes the identification of gaps along with determination of personal growth objectives for further development. Personal analysis is an important tactic towards the direction of assessing own strengths and weaknesses. The aspect that help in further successful development of weak personality points is PDP i.e. personal development plan. The development of personality is directly attached with the fact of professional development. This is so because higher level of personality reflects effective level of skills and traits that further can be used by an individual towards gaining better studying and professional experience. The main aim of this report is also to ascertain the value of personal development planning and its contribution in further professional development. Theaspectscoverunderthisprojectincludesconceptofpersonaland professionaldevelopment,valueofshort-termgoalsalongwiththreepersonal examples, value of medium-term goals along with three personal examples, value of long-termgoalsalongwiththreepersonalexamplesandvalueofaPersonal Development Plan along with its development on the basis of identified goals. 1.Definition of the concept of personal and professional development Personalandprofessionaldevelopmentaretwodifferentconceptual determinants. Both of these are having their own level of benefit towards a life of an individual. It is important for an individual to focus over both aspects for further effectivedevelopmentinthedirectionofgainingsuccess.Thedeterminantof professionaldevelopmentisdirectlydependingovertheexerciseofpersonal development. This is so because if an individual does not have sufficient amount of skills and traits then not possible to gain any other experience at professional level. This clears the fact that skills like communication and learning are effective towards the further improvement of professional knowledge (Kiessling and et al., 2021). So, this brings a primary obligation over an individual that first develop their personality then focus over the scenarios of professional growth. This is the reason that always focus over identifying the gaps in personality growth so able to determine the areas 2
which require further level of development. The development of PDP help in effective planning of personality growth on the basis of strategies and measuring criterion. It has importance towards guidance of an individual that how to approach towards growth sections and measure the same at the end of determined period. The detailed level definition in respect to both is providing below; Personal development:This includes the development of personality traits and skills for the purpose of performing normal life functions and gaining additional knowledgeabouttheareasofinterest.Ithasimportancewithinanoverall development of personality by going through each different associated factor for exampleindevelopmentofcommunicationskillwillcoveringabouttheother important concerns such as listening, voice modulation etc. It creates the base for other developments in life. Professionaldevelopment:Thisisaboutthedevelopmentofprofessional career prospects that further aid in gaining of effective place at interested area of career choice. It totally depends over the personality traits and skills of an individual. If, a person has less qualitative personality then not possible to gain higher level of professional growths and vice-versa. 2.Description and discussion of the value of short term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Short terms goals are those which can be achieved before to the time period of 3 months. These goals are having effective level of contribution in development of various characteristics within a person such as honesty, patience, hardworking and consistency. It also focuses over the development of skills which can be grown in the period of 3 months. These all are valuable because they aid in developing basic features in a person so further can be assessed about the higher development opportunities(LanduranandN’Kaoua,2021).Itcreatesabaseforfurther development that will be used by an individual in higher development of personality determinants. 3.Description and discussion of the value of medium term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Medium term goals are those which can be achieved within the time period of 3 to 6 months. These goals are having wide scope as comparison to short term goals. The contribution of these is also higher as compared to short term. It helps an individual to gain depth knowledge about points so can implement same in life to gain effective results. The value of these goals also can be ascertained from the fact that it sharpens the personality by focusing over the specific points related to the developed aspects along with development of skills and traits which requires higher period of time. There are many skills and traits which requires deeper knowledge for understanding of hidden aim and implementation at actual scenarios. So, providence of proper time over development of these aspects always be beneficial for a person to get positive results in life while performing functions either for itself or for any third party. Medium term goals majorly cover the effective level personality development where a person can gain skills and traits up to 80% of requirement. This also depicts theimportanceofmediumtermgoalsbecauseitcoversthelargerportionof personality development where a person can get success if not working over the development of long term goals (Thomason and et al., 2021). This is so because long term goals are having contribution towards the development of those points which can be used exceptionally in life only at the time of higher need. So, this clears the fact that major part of personality depends over medium term goals because time period of 3 to 6 months is sufficient to gain knowledge about new determinants. The three medium term goals are presenting below that further want to develop in future; Development of team building skill Development of problem solving skill Development of management specific knowledge and skill 4.Description and discussion of the value of long term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Long term goals are those which can be achieved within the time period of 6 months to 12 months. These goals basically cover the aspects which requires multiple knowledge about different points before to the development of one particular need. This is the reason that it takes larger period of time because have to learn aboutdifferentpointersalongwiththeirrelationwithoutsidefactors.Effective development enables a person to work in diverse situations so further can gain 4
speedy professional growth in future. This is the last criterion that involves the development of personality aspects. The value of same can be derived from the investment of time period because it involves the development of toughest area of personality (Atherton and et al., 2021). It is a fact that these areas are not using by a person on regular basis but can help in the tough situations towards effective decision making where no one wants to take the charge of situation. The three long term goals are defining below which requires to develop within a personality; Development of trait about openness for taking charge of new situations i.e. openness to experience Development of trait about conscientiousness Development of trait about agreeableness 5.Description and discussion of the value of a Personal Development Plan Personal development plan is a tactic that help in further development of weak areas. This is a kind of planning framework which is use by individuals to develop their areas. The involvement of areas under personal development plan is totally depending over need and requirement of an individual. This planning document has effective level of contribution towards guiding individuals. It can be used by them to understand that what they have to do and how need to approach towards specific development aspects. It is also providing a base towards measurement of skills developmentthroughuseofmentionedtechniquesalongwithpre-determined standards. The overall description clearly depicts the value of personal development plan because it not only helps in development of weak areas but help to check that those developed were according to the standards or not. 1.0Conclusion It has been concluded from the above report that there is huge contribution of personal development plan in development skills and traits in a person. PDP works as a guiding tool that help individuals to understand that what aspects they have to followfordevelopmentofweak skillalongwithitsmeasurementtodetermine acceptance of same within the personality. The another advantage associated with this framework that stimulates the behaviour of individuals that focus over identifying their weak areas and apply this model to develop the same. It is also ascertained that effective implementation of PDP not only help to develop personality points but further aid in growth under professional areas. It providing an opportunity that apply developed skills and traits at workplace for qualitative performance so further able to grab growth opportunities i.e. promotion and higher responsibilities.
