1.Introduction The personal and professional development involves various activities which can be helpful in enhancing skills and competencies through which development can be made. Personal and professional development is an ongoing process of skills and competency development which helps in attracting various opportunities that can be helpful in shaping career and attracting greater employment opportunities (Cowley and Hyams-Ssekasi, 2018). In order to achieve short-, medium- and long-term goals, a personal and professionaldevelopmentplanwillexplainstrategiesthroughwhichskillsand competencies can be developed. 2.Definition of the concept of personal and professional development Personal and professional development is a continuous approach which is used to determine the key skills and competencies that can shape career and attract moreopportunities.Personalandprofessionaldevelopmentisacontinuous approach which helps in enhancing the required skills. With the help of effective personal and professional development, this can help in enhancing the performance standards and support in meeting the desired standards and objectives. Personal and professional development plan is the plan which supports in gaining knowledge and enhancing the ability to perform the assigned work effectively. Professional development is the approach of enhancing the knowledge and quality of life throughwhichthe capabilities andpotentialof individual canbe enhanced and therefore, it supports in creating human capital and offering incline in employment opportunities and development of professional skills (Gamble and et.al, 2020). Personal and professional development plays a crucial role in creating human capital, offers opportunities for growth and enhances the skills and knowledge of performingtheassignedworkeffectively.However,personalandprofessional development is helpful in making development in personality and career through which better opportunities can be availed. 2
3.Description and discussion of the value of short term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples Short term goals are those goals which will be achieved in the near future. These goals need to be achieved in the short period of time and acts as fundamental base through which a path can be created for making the progress towards the achievement of long-term goals. Short term goals are such goals through which the required skills and knowledge can be enhanced. Short term goals offer supports in pathway to success that can be helpful in attracting greater opportunities (Lejeune, Beausaert and Raemdonck, 2021). The major focus of short-term goals is to break these goals in shorter SMART objectives through which such objectives can be achieved.Shorttermcanbeachievedwiththehelpofdividingtheplanned objectives in shorter objective through which progress can be ensured. Short term goals are valuable as such goals supports in- setting benchmarks that can be helpful in achieving long term objectives. Such goals are helpful in creating specific and clear guideline through which objectives can be accomplished. These goals are helpful in dividing long term goals through which the target can be easily achieved. Therefore, such short-term goals are also supportive in bringing clarity and sense of direct ion to meet the bigger picture. This plan is also helpful in enhancing the existing skill set through which better and effective change can be made possibly. This plan also supports in preventing people from making wrong choices as they can rationalize the situations, the right option can be selected. PDP is an approach for development which supports in providing a sense of direction through which they can generate a sense of purpose that needs to be achieved. PDP plan is an approach which helps in enhancing the skill’s and prioritize the objectives as per demands and preferences.
