Introduction
Academic skills refers to a talent and habits that is useful for pursuing
learning, research, presentation, report writing and many more. This term mainly
includes several aspects such as studying, communication, test taking, social
planning etc. Personal and professional development mainly present a thought which
is useful to manage and understand the work and career related opportunities. It is
highly necessary on individual basis that helps in carry out and regulate activities
that helps in developing skills with understanding and knowledge (McGill, Heikkila
and Lazarowicz, 2020). However, it is based on professional development of individual
person that improve career so that more opportunities are enjoyed by person in their
personal and professional life. Therefore this report elaborate various terms such as
explanation of personal and professional development. This report also elucidates
value of short term, long term and medium term goals that helps individual to
enhance their career along with developing living standard of people within society.
At last it elaborates personal development plan so that skills are effectively
improved.
Definition of the concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development defines as a process wherein an
individual and organization are engage within the process of gaining knowledge
through learning to meet the targets effectively and efficiently. This term helps
individual in shaping their career along with improving skills and knowledge.
Professional development is a type of ongoing process that helps a person in deal
with the situation that comes in career path. Learning new and improved skills allow
person to enjoy different roles within an organization so that they got an opportunity
that he/she wishes. Personal development support in developing social and mental
skills so that potential in work is also get improved that provide sustainable results in
positive manner (Spector-Cohen and et. al., 2019). Therefore personal and professional
development helps in maintaining effective and efficient in particular job role. This
development is important for personal life of an individual because by this they learn
new skills and knowledge that they use in their job role to advance career. This also
build and develop confidence in a person so that they achieve objectives,

communicate ideas and thoughts effectively so that overall credibility is to be grow.
Self growth is crucial and it is mainly developed by focusing on personal and
professional development. There are several requirements of personal and
professional development that are presented below:
First requirements is improve your self awareness- According to this need
self awareness simply means being aware about yourself. It is very essential
to understand individual needs and aspects because according to this a
person focus on proceeding the self growth plans. Therefore nobody
effectively understand yourself that means if an individual does not
understand own strength and weaknesses than they cannot proceed to
develop self growth plans that creates disappoint in the life of individual.
Second requirement is know and build your own identification- It is very
significant requirements that was sustain in every individual. Therefore, every
person is different from one another they also show their desire when they
understand what they want and for this they first understand their own identity.
Third requirements focuses on developing and discovering the talents-
It is the last requirements that focuses on discovering and developing the
talents within a person. To enhance personal and professional development it
is essential to discover own talent so that high opportunities are to be enjoyed
by gaining opportunities in interested job role within reputed organization
(Lejeune, Beausaert and Raemdonck, 2021).
Knowledge
It defines as a fact or awareness that is gained by using experience and
education. In simple terms it means it demonstrate a practical or theoretical
understanding of a particular subject. It is a term that exist in human mind and it
should be contrasted with information and data that generate in non human form
such as documents and systems. There are various type of knowledge such as
tactic knowledge in which a person learn only with regular refining of skills and
experience. It means it cannot be generate by reading books as it develops by
regular practical learning. Experimental knowledge learned through experience in
which flat data is less problematic.
