1. Introduction
For the purpose of surviving in the corporate world, it is necessary for every person to
have proper personal and professional skills as it is the most basic and important factor of
human being. Any of task of business organization can be completed in an effective and
efficient manner, if the employees have complete skills which leads to the growth of
business organization. Furthermore, it is found that the development of such skills are in
the hand of person itself. They can analyze the skills and develop them by preparing
personal development plan. The purpose of making this report is to discuss about the
personal and professional development along with short term, medium term and long
term goals. At the end, it also covers the personal development plan of individual. In
order to developing skills, the individual should categories their goals on the basis of
relevant time period i.e. short, medium and long term goals.
2. Definition of the concept of personal and professional
development
Professional development can be defined as the improvement and increment in the
capabilities of individual by accessing the opportunities of training and education at the work
place or outside the work place. It leads to the development of morale and motivation of
employees. Another name of professional development is staff development.
Personal development refers to the process of improving such skills of individual
which are required while enhancing employment as it leads to the increase in consciousness
and building wealth.
Increase in the competition require higher personal and professional skills. Skills of
an individual are not complete without any of one skill as it help the employees to completing
their task in an effective and efficient manner (Gacs and et. al., 2020). All companies while
doing recruitment, wants to hire the candidates having proper professional and personal skills
so that they can contribute in an effective manner towards the success of organization.

Short term goals can be explained as the goals which an individual wants to achieve
in near future. Such goals are established to achieve in the time period of less than 1 year. If

individual which provide confidence to go ahead and make more goals. Mitigates Procrastination: After getting a clear and cut path or way which provide
clear steps of achieving the goals, delaying tactic removed from the path which
result in the increase in motivation level of individual (Zou and et. al., 2019). They
feel highly motivated and perform well even after the path get difficult. Offers a clear direction: The list of these goals also describe the list of actions
which an individual is required to undertake in order to reaching to the desired goals
as those action provide the directions in order to achieve the goals. It is very helpful
for individual as it remove the wastage of time on extra activities which are not
useful and made only for wasting time and energy.
 Promotes the success of career: In order to moving forward, setting and then
achieving the goals are important aspect in the life of every professional. If any
individual has no goals, it will get very difficult to achieve the progress in their

constant eye on long term goals which leads to the career growth of individual.

2021). Basically it shows the path which goes upward as it helps in analysis the strengths and
weakness as well.
Along with this, various of well known people define that the set of traits and
characteristics which establish a framework which shows the difference between one person
from all the others. All of people are different in the personality and all people wants to
distinguish themselves on the basis of various skills.

From the above report it is concluded that personal development plan helps the
individual in analyzing and knowing about their skills and how they can do improvement as
well. Basically it prepare an action plan that what and how an individual should do the
actions so that they can achieve the goals in an effective and efficient manner. Short term
goals and long terms goals are important along with medium term goals which leads to the
improvement of skills and knowledge in individual. This report is showing a personal

essential to do development in everyone's life. It should not be stop as long as the person
survive as their desires. Furthermore, it is analyses that the person prepare their goals on the
