1PERSONAL REFLECTION In order to progress in life both is regards to the individual and organizational levels, self- reflection is required to a great extent. The essential purpose of the self-reflection is to develop significant understanding of the individual’s readiness for change. The secondary aspect in focus is the formation of effective strategies that can ensure further future development. Self-awareness is an essential criteria for the development of an individual in any field of work or occupation. The optimal understanding of one’s self can help to enhance the strengths and tackle the weaknesses towards developing a balanced approach towards life and work. I have used the change readiness assessment tool for scoring myself and my capabilities to adapt to changing working environments that I can experience in my professional life. The results of the assessment has helped me to reflect to a certain extent in regards my self-awareness. The initial phases of the assessment has pointed to by relative balance when it comes to accepting either the familiar or the unknown. I am motivated and cannot wait till I can start a new endeavor. However, at the same time according to the assessment tool I am logical and do not jump to conclusions when it comes to certain important decisions in life that can guide my future course of actions. On the basis of the assessment my scores are: Adventurousness – 23, Resourcefulness – 24, Adaptability – 23, Optimism – 29, Confidence– 23, Tolerance for ambiguity – 25, Passion- 23 The assessment points towards the fact that I am to a great extent adaptable with regards to the changing environments. I believe this is one of the crucial capabilities that can make me achieve greater heights in the future. However, I strongly believe that with regards to some of the cases I might have achieved more than the acceptable results. I am quite well poised towards adventuress and I am relatively confident of my actions. I believe being adventurous is a good
2PERSONAL REFLECTION thing in the corporate environment that I will have to endure in the future. This is mainly due to the fact that these environments require men to be risk taking. Sometimes, risks has to be taken in a corporate scenario in order to avoid greater risks in the future. My confidence levels can be said to at par with the requirements but not great. The main problem area that I have identified is my over optimism. High levels of optimism can mean lack of critical thinking and proper evaluation of a situation. This is because optimism sometimes can be based on concepts that are not realistic. I believe too much optimism can make me suffer in the future. Hence, I will need to take better logical and critical approaches to life. It is important to have a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset as a growth mindset is always inclined towards making oneself better. Hence, I believe that I have significant strength but at the same time I lack critical understanding of situations at certain points in time. I will need to change this for the better. In conclusion, it can be said that both my strengths and weaknesses will guide me towards my future. My strengths will enhance my challenge tackling capabilities and my weakness will always provide me with essential development areas focusing on changing which will make mee get better with time.
