INTRODUCTIONIn the high education system, institutions have to make appropriate strategies plans inorder to make sustainable competitive advantage. The opportunity is given to participants todevelop a better understanding regarding the context of organization and competitiveenvironment and alternative approaches are explored by them to gain sustainable advantage.Globalisation,changes to the funding and regulatory regimes are some of the issues that are facedby education sector. So,there is need to bring a change in the strategic plan in educationdepartment. A new strategic plan is embarked by the Ulster university UK. This plan will makeuse of five and fifty approach in order to enhance the quality of student learning and learningexperience (Five and Fifty strategic plan, 2017).This report will conduct a PESTLE analysis on the strategic plan that is used in theuniversity so as to evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy based on the factors of environment.In order to diagnose industry attractiveness and profitability five force framework will beconducted. This report will also examine the factors such as resources and competences thatmakes up the strategic capability. The strategic purpose of Ulster university will be presented inthis report. The various theories related to shareholder and stakeholder with respect to changemanagement will be discussed,This report will also discuss the leadership style in context withstrategic change.PESTLE analysis on the five and fifty strategic plan used in Ulster universityA new and ambitious strategic plan is embarked by Ulster university for the next fiveyears with strategic vision that will take the university to the fiftieth anniversary 2034.The livesof students that are studying over there and other staff that are working will be transformed asthis plan will drive towards innovations and will shape policy.Political In the education sector of UK ,any change in the government policy will put the publicfunding of higher education at risk .The resources that are allocated for the strategic plan may bereduced due to reduction in overall funding. Any change in taxes and levies may have an impacton the funding for the university according to the plan that is followed. The funding may bereduced due to increase in taxes (Reay, 2016). to participate in sustainable development initiatives. There is a risk of losing the supportivemanagement staff due to implementation of this plan five and fifty plan of university.Economical Any change in economic climate may have an impact on the investment that is done bythe university on this plan (Pilcher, Murra and Craig, 2017). A negative impact on the universityinvestment can be produced due to any downfall in the economy. The funding for HE institutionis linked to tuition fees in higher proportion so there is a greater emphasis on retaining studentmembers. However on the other hand due to this plan there is are-allocation of funds for Ulsteruniversity.Social The lack of engagement from the staff and students may reduce the effectiveness of thisplan. Through the lack of engagement a high staff turnaround can negatively affect Ulster .Thecertain groups such as wind /project elated to solar from local communities can halt thesustainable development initiatives.Technological If the plan is not implemented correctly then the intended results may not be achieved. Inareas such water,electricity,waste at university the use of new technology can help to achievethe objective of sustainable development (Francis and Taylor, 2016.).Legal The non-compliance can be produced at university due to lack ofknowledge,understanding and accountability of legal requirements. Due to requirement of extraresources in implementation of the plan there need to make change in the operational cost.Environment There is a risk of local environment damage due to close proximity to sensitive areas. Thebiodiversity can be chance due to this plan at university.Five forces framework for Ulster universityAs the increasing marketization is experienced by the world, there is high competitionthat is faced by higher education sector (Denne, Hastings and Hughes, 2017). There is a hugecompetition among university for students,staff members ,research support and this competitionis becoming aggressive and global.2
