The hotel company is operating around the globe. The company has been successful and the
key competitive advantage of the company is its orientation towards continued improvement.
The company has employed Sex Sigma Belt employees at various levels within the
organization. The company has significantly invested in providing the training to its
employees in getting their Six Sigma certification.
Recently, the company has realized that there is the need for the improvement in the public
relations, and that too in relation to the sustainability initiatives of the company. The
company has already been working towards this thing however it is willing to do more
towards it.
The company believes it an important step as it will ensure that the customer base is
maintained as many of its customers are asking for it. However, the prime focus of the
company is the reduction of the cost that it believes can be achieved with the use of
sustainability initiatives.
The company has already various sustainability initiatives in action. However, in the recent
time it has introduced a new initiative where the customers visiting the hotel can choose not
to have their linens and towels cleaned if they place a card on the bed before leaving the
room.
The company believes that this initiative has range of benefits such as it will help reduce the
use of energy and water which is directly associated with the cost incurred by the company
and along with that, it will lead to the achievement of sustainability purpose.

However, it has been identified that the only around 0.5% of the people are using this
initiative and rest are not choosing this option. The company is willing to improve this
situation and understand that probably Six Sigma can resolve this situation.
The aim is to increase the use of this initiative to reduce the cost along with represent the
company as orienting more towards sustainability. The focus would be to increase of the use
of the above service.
The project is necessary to be done as it is likely to help the company achieve its aim of
reducing the cost and getting a reputation of being sustainable. This is likely to help the
company in the long run by bringing in more customers with the increased reputation.
The need of the project has been felt at present as it has been identified that some of the
major clients of the company is asking for some more effort from the company towards
sustainability. This project, if successful, is likely to help bring better image of the company
in front of these customers.
If the project is not done, then it is likely that the company will fail to achieve its
sustainability goal along with the reduction in the cost it is willing to make which is around
$13.03 on laundry for per occupied room. The project should be implemented as it might
impact the reputation of the company. It might also impact the customer base of the
customers who consider the company a sustainability oriented entity.
Considering this aspect, it has been decided that the company will implement this project.
