PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY ON EDUCATION 1
Philosophical Perspectives on Education
Philosophy deals with the reality of the situation. Philosophical perspectives on the
education aims to determine the thoughts or philosophies that are relating with the education.
This concept helps the teachers to focus on the key issues of education and expand the
knowledge area (Fischer & Mahon, 2019). Moreover, philosophical perspectives consist of
educational philosophies that takes into account the educational theories for the purpose of
enhancing the knowledge and leading to efficient teaching practice. Here, the essay will
discuss my personal beliefs and values on the philosophical perspectives in the education in
consideration with the theory relating with the teaching and learning of the students.
Education is regarded as the medium for acquiring skills, knowledge and learning that
can increase the overall development of the student (Best & Kahn, 2016). Nature of education
can be explained as the life-long process which is important for an individual. My beliefs on
the nature of education is that it encourages the development of the individual which alters
the behaviour of the individual and adds to the improvement in the society. I think education
can make the individual learn about certain areas and also makes effective contribution in
society.
Purpose of education is to teach values and knowledge to the individual that can add
to the learning of the student. My views on the purpose of education is to enhance the
knowledge and experience of the individual that can make the human society more valuable
and contributing to the overall development of the nation. Further, schools play a vital role in
the facilitation of education. Purpose of school is intellectual as it increases the level of
thinking and reading skills of the student (Malin, Liauw, & Remington, 2019). My personal
beliefs about the purpose of education is to increase in knowledge and understanding of the
students and enhance their cognitive level and also playing a major role in the social and
emotional development of the future. I think that schools prepare better for the future and also
make effective involvement into the political affairs.
Additionally, teaching practice is associated with giving the knowledge and learning
to the students in order to give training to the students for the purpose of apply theory in
practice (Glover, Hepplestone, Parkin, Rodger, & Irwin, 2016). My role as a teacher is
concerned with the increase the efficiency of the students through the classroom instruction
in which I can develop and prepare lessons that can add to the skills and knowledge and skills

of the students. My role also includes to grade the students and provide the necessary
feedback to the students and also manage the curriculum and the classroom materials that can
make the students learn in an effective way and make collaborations with the staff. For
successful classroom, motivation is important. I believe that the teaching is motivated by the
purpose of the learning of the students and their professional development. Moreover,
motivation enable the positive behaviour and energizes the students to undertake the activities
that are crucial for the professional development of the students (Rosati, 2017). My teaching
is motivated by the fact that the students need to make the interesting learning environment
and the growing aspirations and goals that can push the entire academic studies. Moreover,
motivated student is more goal-oriented and continued towards the work.
Curriculum is important for every course or study which is precisely concerned with
the experiences of the students in terms of educational process or planned sequence of
instructions given to the students (Pinar, 2019). The purpose of curriculum is to make the
child to be a successful learner and also enhance the skills, aptitudes and knowledge of the
students in order to be achieve their professional target and being appreciated in the world
through the effective contributors. I think curriculum is worth to be included in the
educational process in order to make the students aware of their skills and knowledge and
enhance their personality as an individual. Further, ‘to be educated’ means to brought up or to
guided. This means that educator has to train the other person in order to achieve the
education and training and guidance to the students (Kuppens, Spears, Manstead, Spruyt, &
Easterbrook, 2018). I believe ‘to be educated’ means that the student is able to think critically
and has the ability to take the decisions independently. Moreover, education gives the
knowledge regarding the pertinent changes in the world and also helps in developing a
perspective in life.
Consistent teaching is built up by the appropriate curriculum and regarding the
education (Skiba, Ormiston, Martinez, & Cummings, 2016). Further, my teaching practice is
consistent when I include the curriculum in my educational process. Therefore, when I
include curriculum under the entire educational process and so as to increase the entire
personality and attitude of the student and also increase the capability of the students to be an
effective person and be a successful citizen of the country. This can also make my teaching
practice consistent through making me confident.

Further, essentialism is concerned with the teaching of the essential and basic
academic discipline in order to enhance the learning of the students. My educational
philosophy is relating with the essentialism as I strive for teaching in such a way that students
gain the sufficient knowledge and develop their career. Further, progressiveness is the
educational philosophy which stresses upon the individual experiences (Fischer & Mahon,
2019). My educational philosophy is related with the students experiments that gives the
practical knowledge of the academic discipline. Behaviourism is another perspective that
focus on the behaviours of the students through the conditioning of the varied behaviours of
the students. I think that behaviourism is related to my philosophy in which I have focused on
improving the behaviour of the students and is related with the enforcements of different
kinds of behaviours and their consequences.
Further, constructionism is the philosophy which emphasizes on the social reforms
and undertaking social action on the real-life problems (Irigaray & Marder, 2016). I believe
that my philosophy is related with this perspective in which I have made the teaching practice
that addresses the social question and thrives to make the better society and as I have focused
on the curriculum which majorly focus on the development of the society and also make the
beneficiary society that maintains the aim of education and also I aim to make the better
society through dealing with oppression and other discriminatory practices.
Islamic educational philosophy is found in the Holy book Qur’an. Irrespective of the
religion, education tends to shape the good behaviour of the individual and also discussion of
the social issue amongst the students. Thus, it can be observed that Islamic educational
perspective suggests the students to be a good human being first. Specifically, education is
modified with the Islamic perspectives and values (Rosila & Yaacob, 2013). The main aim of
the education under the Islamic religion is to serve God which proves that the main aim of the
education of the people under the Islamic religion to be a good man.
To conclude, it can be said that education is necessary for the individual to grow as a
person and achieve the high level of achievement for the purpose of develop their
personalities. Here, the essay is based on my personal value and beliefs on the educational
philosophies. It has included the purpose of education and the curriculum importance in order
to grow as a person. This essay has been successful in the critical analysis my beliefs on the
teaching practice and relation with the other philosophical perspective.
