1PINOT NOIR Introduction The word “Pinot Noir” is derived from the French words pine and black, it belongs to the species Vitis Vinifera. This is a red wine variety of grapes that is mostly grown in parts of the Burgundy region of France (Tomasi et al.,. 2017). This grape is used for preparing wines, and it is sometimes used in making champagne, sparkling white wines, English sparkling wines and Italian Franciacorta. This is one of the difficult varieties of grapes to cultivate (Tomasi et al.,. 2017). It is used in making light cultured, medium-bodied wines all around the world. These varieties of grapes are cultivated dominant in France; however, it is not to mention that this is also found in areas of Argentina, California, Italy and Germany. The dominant flavor profile for this variety Pinot Noir is strawberry, cherry, raspberry and blackberry (Tomasi et al.,. 2017).
