SECTION A- INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW OF THIS PORTFOLIO
Portfolio is the collection of documents which contain various topics as per the learner
experience. It is essential for a individual to identify the area of job conducted and the
organisation for their professional life (Amoroso and Burke, 2018). I am interested in HR
manager job role within Morrison organisation. The main factor which attracted me to the
mentioned job role is my academic background. I have completed my graduation from HR
specialisation and I have choose to perform the job within Morrison only due to the brand image
of the company and higher professional growth. The Morrison is popular name within retailing
industry which was founded in their year 1899 by William Morrison and it is headquartered in
Bradford, UK. There are over 497 supermarkets of Morrison all across the world (Company
History, 2022). Hence, this is challenging for the HR manager to manage the employees within
different locations to achieve a common purpose. I am specifically interested to perform this job
role within this company only due to the high speed of professional growth and various other
benefits which is gained by employees of Morrison for working within this company. There are
lots of positive reviews about the growth in this company. The benefits gained by employees
while working in Morrison are colleagues discount card which means the employees of this
organisation will gain discount on products of retail if they purchase from Morrison stores. Life
assurance scheme, healthcare cash plans, company pension, colleague bonus scheme and many
others are the benefits gained by employees of this organisation (Benefits, 2022). Hence, this is
the main reason that I choose this organisation for my professional life. I hope to achieve success
through this business which will help me to become effective HR manager. I have chosen HR
manager as the role whose main responsibilities is to manage people of the organisation
effectively and attract and retain talented employees for longer period of time. The following
portfolio covers CV and personal statement analysis, SWOT analysis, smart goals, short term,
medium term and long term goals. This portfolio also covers analysis of resources need to
achieve set goals. Hence, the CV and other goals that are identified in this portfolio are directly
linked to the HR job role within the chosen organisation.

SECTION B- PERSONAL STATEMENT AND CURRICULUM VITAE
Personal statement
I am a student at higher education who is pursuing his master's degree in HR
specialisation. I have various kinds of strengths like communication skills, time management
skill and many others. I have worked as an intern within retail industry and gained appropriate
knowledge about the corporate environment within this industry. I am always interested to learn
new things and skills for my effective upcoming career. I know it well that this is the last
opportunity for me to learn effective skills without any burden because beyond academic career,
I need to start my professional career where no one will guide me or teach me the employability
skills. They directly train me. Hence, I am a good academic student who always participate in
extra curricular activities with the main aim that it will help me to learn something new.
I am interested to apply as an HR manager within high reputed organisation. I can offer
my efforts, time and handwork for organisational growth if I have selected for the interested job
role. I am dedicated to the task offered to me and perform my best efforts to accomplish the
goals of the task.
My career goals are divided into three categories, short term goals, medium term goals
and long term goals. Short term goals are those goals which get accomplished within one year
(Altan, 2022). My short term goals is to achieve good marks in academic performance and attend
all HR seminars and events which are conducted within this year. Medium term goals are those
goals which are going to accomplish between 1 year to 3 years (Ventrone, 2020). I have planned
few goals for my to accomplish within the upcoming 2-3 years. My first medium term goals is to
start my first job in HR department within high reputed company. Secondly, I want to become
successful and respected HR manager within Morrison Company. On the other hand, long term
goals are those goals which are required to accomplish after 3 years (Schubert and et. al., 2020).
My long term goal is to start my own business after 5 years and manage all activities
appropriately as per the business goal.
The main reason for applying for the offered job role is that, it is related to my graduation
specialisation and secondly the organisation is having high reputation within the industry. The
organisation which is offering the job role are having various benefits for their existing
employees which attracts the most. Secondly, I reviewed the work culture through internet

sources and by visiting the company's website. There are lot of positive review about the
company which attracted me the most to apply for the vacant job role.
In context of experience, I had done internship in the company within same industry. I have done
the internship in the same field of job application. During my 3 months of internship I get to
know about how an HR Manager works within retail industry and what are the main
responsibilities which is essential to perform by HR manager in their job role. One of my habit is
to scan environment on regular basis, this habit will also help me to accomplish my goal. HR
manager is required to scan the environment on regular basis to analyse the opportunity for
improvement.
There are various reasons for the employers to select me for the vacant job role and the
reasons are by employability skills. I am strong at communication skill, time management skill,
problem solving skill, decision making skill and even at ICT skills. If someone ask me to rate
these skills then I must rate highest points to problem solving skill because I analyse the issues
and search the information to understand the issues from its depth and then prepare a list of
alternative solutions. After this I will make sure to choose that solution which have more
advantages to adopt as compared to others. My priority is to mitigate the issue from its root and
did not allow it to occur again in future. They always provide those solutions to a specific
problem which will help the organisation to mitigate it properly so that it will not disturb the
productivity again in future (Masters and et. al., 2020).

Curriculum vitae is a type of short summary of an individual's career, qualifications, and
experiences. The individual is required to send the copy of their CV to the company as an
application document for the vacant job role so that they will consider the CV and get to know
that whether the individual is useful for the offered job role or not (Poe and et. al., 2021).

SWOT analysis is one of the most important framework which helps to analyse the strengths and
weakness of an individual as well as the opportunity to grow well and threats to defend (Seeger
and Worsfold, 2019). My personal SWOT analysis is mentioned below-
Strengths-
I am good at problem solving skill and

SMART Objectives
1 I am going to attend all lectures during my last year of graduation and make
appropriate notes to review at the time of exams which is gong to held after 8
months to gain good marks.
2 I am going to update myself by asking with my teachers and classmates about the
seminar and webinars on Human Resource subject before 2 days of such events so
that I will manage my time accordingly and prepare myself for the seminar.
3 I am going to attend all sessions of our placement cell which is going to held after
1.5 years and update myself for the companies to apply for their vacant job role.
4 I am also planning to apply for Morrison company's HR manager and for this I
need to apply for the vacant job role within 2 years and perform well and achieve
success.

Analysis (analysis 1) PPT and notes will help me to manage my learning for all subjects of
my course. Teachers provide PPT of the topics discussed in the class
and I always make sure that I will prepare my own notes of the topics
which are discussed in classes and all these sources will help me at the
end of my academic year during exams to review the topics and gain
good marks. There are various advantages of learning through PPT
and notes like it will help to clear the concepts of the subjects, it will
further help to create interest in those subjects which is seem
uninterested in learning. PPT covers pictures of the topics which
further help to relate the topic with other relatable concepts and help
me to learn the concept for longer period of time. The only
disadvantage of PPT and notes is that it consume time to prepare these
sources and each mind has different concepts. Hence, the PPT from
different teachers will interpret-ate different ideas of a similar topic.
This resource will help me to achieve my short term goal which is to
gain high score in academic career.

Analysis (analysis 2) My long term goal is to start a HR job within high reputed company
and the priority of company goes to Morrison. Hence, company's
website will help me to analyse whether they are hiring for the chosen
job role or not. I must review their website on daily basis and apply for
the vacant job role in HR department if I see any opportunity.
Secondly, Morrison can also put job advertisement on their social
media accounts. Hence, I also need to follow their social media
accounts and must review their accounts on daily basis to check
whether they are hiring or not. This will help me to analyse
application criteria and in case I am not eligible right now then I will
try my best to fulfil all criteria at next time. There are few advantages
of reviewing company's website and social media accounts and that is
I can analyse the eligibility criteria which is commonly used by
Morrison to hire HR manager so that I will prepare myself for all those
criteria. Secondly, I can also contact with the employees working in
Morrison to analyse the interview process and I can reach to
employees of Morrison through their website. The main disadvantage
of this resource is that it is not compulsory that the information which
is posted on this channels are always true.
