2.2 Evaluate the significance of interactive planning systems and
processes in tourism developments with reference to Qatar
Interactive planning: Interactive planning can be defined as a ‘participative method of
dealing with interrelated problems when it is believed that unless something is done, a
desirable future is not likely to occur and if appropriate action is taken, the likelihood of
such a future can be increased’(Russel Ackoff,1974). It is a reactive planning system
which supports in minimising gap between desirable current and future state. It always
involves all stakeholders into the planning process so that such plan can be designed
which may support in meeting the needs of all stakeholders. This system deals with the
focus on the present situation by believing that through this planning there will be huge
benefit in the future. Qatar's government make proper interactive planning to develop a
most likely tourist destination. This process is very important as president took great
interest in it and linked it with international level. Here more people need to take interest
in it and also to feel secure in terms of safety especially from terrorist attack while
visiting Qatar.
Significance of interactive planning system is as following:
Interactive planning supports in managing the issue of overcrowding when
number of tourist get increased.
Involvement of all key stakeholders
It is helpful in effective utilisation of resources so that natural resources can be
protected for longer duration.
Facilities can also be planned with the help of interactive planning process and
helps to accomplish goal of making Qatar as a tourist destination. Through this
management it would be able to manage the problems more effectively.
Qatar government has organised many social and business events in the
destination which has supported in increasing tourism activities in the location.

4.2 Analyze the implications of
balancing supply and demand with
references to Qatar
One of the most usual problems that industries
are facing is the dilemma of efficiently
balancing demand with supply. Manufacturers
are constantly faced with the challenge of
choosing what to make, when to make it, and
how much to make. When companies are
unsuccessful to meet this test effectively, they
undergo a lot of consequences. Defining what is
demand and supply we can analyze the
implications of balancing them.
Demand: it refers to the quantity of product and
services that are desired by the consumer. In
tourism sector, demand means the needs of the
tourist and expectation of visitors. It can be
defined as a desire of a consumer to buy
particular item. There is a strong relationship
between quantity and price, if person is getting
high quality or quantity products at reasonable
rates then demand of particular goods can be
increased.
Supply: It refers to the quantity of products and
services are offered for sale in the market by
producer. In tourism, supply means that the total
numbers of tour packages are available for the
tourist. And making balance between both
demand and supply is called balancing demand
and supply.
