Phishing in Facebook occurs when an individual on his or her Facebook account
receives a suspicious message or link that will ask for confidential and personal information.
When the individual gets such message via mail, it is spamming or spoofing through the
medium of mail ("What steps can I take to protect myself from phishing on Facebook? |
Facebook Help Centre | Facebook", 2020). If the individual replies to such spam messages or
open the link out of curiosity, the sender will get access to the individual’s Facebook account
and perform malicious activities.
If an individual thinks that he or she is phished via mail, the following steps can be taken:
Secure the account by changing the password to a new one and logging out from
devices apart from the personal ones.
If already phished, try measures to recover the account.
In case of any suspicious mails, report to phish@fb.com.

hackers forges the email header section and then send emails to recipients. In this way, they
become successful in convincing the recipients that the mail has come from a reputed
organization and is genuine. Through this technique, the fraudsters trick their mail recipients
