Introduction
The study is focused towards understanding the profile of Scott Morrison, the Prime
Minister of Australia. The focus is on evaluating the vital aspects that are connected with the life
and political career of Scott Morrison. The political leader has been instrumental in reaching the
heights of political success and taken some important decisions since he assumed the office of
the Prime minister. He is the 30th Prime minister of Australia. He belongs to the Liberal Party of
Australia.
Profile Story
Morrison was born in Sydney in the year 1968. He had studied economic geography in
the New South Wales University. Later he became the director of the Office of tourism and sport
of New Zealand. He remained in office from 1998 to 2000. He then became the managing
director of Tourism Australia in 2004. He remained in office till 2006 (Hon Scott Morrison MP,
2019). His political career was consolidated when he became elected as a parliamentary
representative in 2007 federal elections of Australia. He became the front of the opposition in the
2010 elections. In 2013, the coalition was victorious. Morrison became the minister of border
protection and immigration under government of Abbot. In charge of the same position he
became the person responsible for one of the flagship policies of the coalition called operation
sovereign borders. In 2014, the cabinet of the then government was reshuffled. Morrison became
the minister for social services. In 2015, Scott Morrison was promoted to the position of the
treasurer as Malcolm Turner became the new Prime Minister placing Tony Abbott. In 2018,
Scott Morrison became the 30th Prime Minister of Australia after defeating candidates Peter
Dutton and Julie Bishop to emerge as the Liberal Party leader (Osborne 2019).

Morrison’s electoral division is Cook and the state is New South Wales. His
shareholdings in private or public companies include superannuation. He runs a family trust
named the Morrison Family Trust. The nature of operation of the trust is dormant (Hansard –
Parliament of Australia 2019). He has real estate with his family in Dolans Bay in New South
Wales. It is his official family residence. He does not have any registered company directorship.
He has liability in Mortgage, Viridian. Visa, Mastercard and Credit. In regards to Mortgage and
Viridian he shares the liability with his wife. He has savings in Commbank (Hansard –
Parliament of Australia 2019). Scott Morrison has held offices such as director of Tourism
Australia. In his previous career he approved and supported a controversial Tourism Australia
campaign. He became an important figure of the opposition in the parliament. He primarily
sought pre-selection from the Cook division of Sydney. In 2011, he questioned the decision
made by the then government led by Gillard publicly concerning the boat disaster of Christmas
Island in 2010 (Scott Morrison, 2019). He has close ties with New Zealand as it is the country of
his maternal Grandfather. In his political life he developed close ties with the tourism minister of
New Zealand at the time, Murray McCully. He also was associated with the 100% pure New
Zealand campaign. In his childhood, Morrison briefly worked as a child actor for some
Australian commercials. In regards to issues such as Immigration, Morrison has showed a strict
attitude. The minister has also spoken about freezing the humanitarian intake of immigrants in
Australia (Bloomberg, 2019).

How is it like for Scot Morrison to be the 30th Prime Minister of Australia?
He revealed that it is a great responsibility for Morrison to be the Prime Minister of
Australia. According to him he is focused towards making Australia an optimally strong country.
He regularly calls meeting with him and other liberal party members like himself for important
meetings.
What do you think are his biggest challenges?
He said that as of now some of the biggest challenges that Morrison considered were,
immigration control, security, the energy sector, trade and foreign affairs. There were the main
issues that are to affect Australia in his term.
What are the Future plans of Scott Morrison?
According to him his future plans are focused towards improving the internal security of
the country. Immigration was an issues that he focused on. Other issues included energy and
trade.
Do you think the Prime Minister is concerned about the security of the country?
In the wake of the recent issues in the world the Prime Minister was much concerned
about the security of Australia. He has called for greater security at the entering points of the
country.
