Introduction
The study is focused towards understanding the profile of Scott Morrison, the Prime
Minister of Australia. The focus is on evaluating the vital aspects that are connected with the life
and political career of Scott Morrison. The political leader has been instrumental in reaching the
heights of political success and taken some important decisions since he assumed the office of
the Prime minister. He is the 30th Prime minister of Australia. He belongs to the Liberal Party of
Australia.
Profile Story
Morrison was born in Sydney in the year 1968. He had studied economic geography in
the New South Wales University. Later he became the director of the Office of tourism and sport
of New Zealand. He remained in office from 1998 to 2000. He then became the managing
director of Tourism Australia in 2004. He remained in office till 2006 (Hon Scott Morrison MP,
2019). His political career was consolidated when he became elected as a parliamentary
representative in 2007 federal elections of Australia. He became the front of the opposition in the
2010 elections. In 2013, the coalition was victorious. Morrison became the minister of border
protection and immigration under government of Abbot. In charge of the same position he
became the person responsible for one of the flagship policies of the coalition called operation
sovereign borders. In 2014, the cabinet of the then government was reshuffled. Morrison became
the minister for social services. In 2015, Scott Morrison was promoted to the position of the
treasurer as Malcolm Turner became the new Prime Minister placing Tony Abbott. In 2018,
Scott Morrison became the 30th Prime Minister of Australia after defeating candidates Peter
Dutton and Julie Bishop to emerge as the Liberal Party leader (Osborne 2019).
