MANAGEMENT1
For centuries women were subservient to men. In the past men considered women to
be assets who used to be confined within the four walls of the house and engage themselves
into household responsibilities (Fincher 2016). The paper will provide comparison on the
lives of women then and now.
The perception of men in recent times have developed significantly wherein men and
women equally have been playing decisive roles in administrative governance political and
legal domains and have been considered as an imperative asset to the society. Nevertheless
there are certain peculiar examples of women in ancient societies who despite of being
forbidden to cast their vote showed immense bravery to successfully establish their rights in
the society. For example, brave woman named Lydia Taft had shown immense courage to be
the first woman in discouraging the dominance of men and casted her vote which has
subsequently led the women in New Zealand established their political rights in the society
(McDonald 2015). The Sex Discrimination Removal Act 1919 altered the commandment on
women being ineligible from certain occupations on the grounds of sex. It offered women
admission to the lawful profession as well as accountancy for the first time and predestined
the fact that they could also embrace any civil or judicial office or post (Kruja et al. 2016).
Furthermore, education plays decisive role in portraying ways in which women in
recent times have differed as compared to centuries ago. While, education was only offered to
men, this resulted in creating major inequalities between both the sexes. On the contrary,
increasing number of women empowerment groups as well as opinions currently thrive
within the community in most advanced nations than ever (McDonald 2015). Organizations
are currently articulating progressively established guidelines to address the subjects of
gender inequality, equal wage as well as harassment.
