Emma Waston has given a speech in 2014 related to “he for she” in which she focused on
gender equality. There should be no discrimination among male and female, all should be treated
equally. The speech is given at a event for he for she and this campaign was organised in United
Nations Headquarters in New York (Ahmad, 2020). In speech she said about concern for
feminism and gender equality. In speech she use political language and many other forms of
language which will be discussed in report.
MAIN BODY
In the speech given by Emma Waston in 2014 she tell about gender equality. Everyone
know that there is discrimination among male and female in society, they are not treated equally
and this should be removed. People are becoming modern like, they like to war modern clothes
and use latest technology but they are not giving equal treatment. In an organisation men and
women both are working but there is difference in their income and at some point male
employees are given preference which should be removed. In speech of Emma Waston different
form of languages is being used (Ambarita, 2020).
Allusion means an expression which is used by speaker to call something to mind, it is not
mentioned. It is an indirect way of saying something so that people can understand what a person
want to convey. It can not be defined in words it is a facial expression which is given by an
individual person when saying something or conveying any topic to audience. An allusion is a
figure of speech which refers to a person, place or things. In the speech sometimes, she gave
expressions which convey her views. It happens that body language of a person convey what he
or she want to say. She is requesting to all the people that there should be no discrimination
because nowadays, females are having knowledge and they are equal to men in all the fields. So,
allusion is expression which speaker gives and listener understands what they want to convey.
Metaphor and simile can be refer to as sentences which are used to make comparisons or
differentiate between two persons. There is a small difference between metaphors and simile i.e.,
metaphor is stating things directly whereas simile use words such as, like or as to for comparison
(Misnadin, 2021). In speech Emma Waston uses some words like, qualities of the exotic
fascinating, galvanize men and boys for change. She has also done comparison among men and
women on the basis of education, working capacity in an organisation and other areas. Females
are working hard to achieve goals and objectives.
