INTRODUCTION
The current portfolio comprises of a number of vital concepts to have a better insight and
understanding about selected topics. The current portfolio consist of discussion about the note
taking and sources of information which support effective learning (Chandra, 2017). Beside this,
the concept of plagiarism, paraphrasing and plagiarism along with presentation skills are also
disused in current assignment. A descriptions related with the reliable and non- reliable
information of sources are also made along with analysis of referencing and presentation skills.
Note-taking
It basically represents the practises and process of recording information from a set of
various sources and available platforms. Note taking comprises of process where an individual
listen to a speaker and tries to write down all the important facts and notes dictated by them in
order to remember these facts for a longer period along with keeping them for use in future
(Chandler, 2017). Therefore, Note taking is important to keep a record of vital information and
required knowledge studies and gathered from universities or other sources of information which
assists better knowledge and information for future purpose and further use also. For instance,
the example notes are taken by students when a lecturer is taking and teaching about some
assignment, at that time of class or activity, notes are taken by student to record all vital
information provided by the lecturer about an assignment which can be used by them to recall
these facts in future and leads to look back at the key points which assist better study.
Sources of information
It mainly comprises and consists of the origin and places from where data can be collected
or gathered by an individual. The main sources of information comprsises of Books,
Encyclopedias, Magazines, Databases, Newspapers, Library Catalog and Internet. The sources
are mainly reliable or non-reliable out of which reliable sources comprise of one that provides an
antithetic set of information and carried proper copyrights and all required information about its
author and year of publication (Ghiasi, 2019). Further, an analysis can be made out that the
reliable sources of information are mainly provide up to date and most trustworthy and credible
form information, the examples of reliable sources comprises of websites, books, and articles
along with Scholarly, peer-reviewed articles or books -written by researchers for students and
researchers. On the other hand the non-reliable set of information comprises of a poor design or

broken links along with grammar and spelling errors which might also comprises of lack of
author, date and/or source information which helps in identifying a non reliable set of sources
(Guesmi and et. al., 2019).
Plagiarism
The term plagiarism is mainly associated with the concept where someone tries to steal
work of some other author. Plagiarism is basically a process where someone is using some else’s
ideas and information without their permission and prior knowledge without having proper
referencing or testing of sources. Therefore, plagiarism is considered as unethical where due
referencing and credit to actual author or sources of information is not provided. Apart from this,
plagiarism can be unintentional and intentional thus, it is vital and important to learn how one
can avoid plagiarism in its work as it can lead to automatic fail of an assignment and can also
lead to other disciplinary action (Weber-Wulff, 2019). Thus, the ways through which risk of
plagiarism can be avoided comprises of ensuring that the all the gathered and collected
information should be done from authentic sites and needs to be correctly referenced along with
making sure that the no words tend to be copied from word to word to avoid the risk of
plagiarism in work (Platanakis and Urquhart, 2020).

Referencing and Paraphrasing
Referencing is mainly associated with providing due credit to the person and sources
which are used in an assignment through proper citation and intesting of information collected
from the some books, journal, website or article. Thus, referencing of assignment is important
and essentially needed to reduce the risk of plagiarism while writing an assignment or document.
Referencing can be done as through providing a reference list at the end if the page along with
proper in-text citation which is representing that which section of information has taken from
which original source (Du, 2020).
On the other hand the Paraphrasing is mainly associated with the process where use of
own words is made to write or present a set of information after understanding and reading
information written or communicated by someone else. Thus, paraphrasing comprises of
presenting information of some else in own words to lead a greater impact and better
understanding.

Presentation skills
It mainly comprises of skills that are needed and required to produce and deliver an
effective as well as engaging and attractive presentation to cater and meet interest of a variety of
audience. The presentation comprises of a collaboration of slide’s deign, tone of voice, body
structure and use of language to convey a message in most appropriate and vital way. Use of
presentation skills leads out and allows a more effective way to effective plan and convey a
message in a more effective and viable way through use of enhanced communication skill and
required set of information about a topic (Yamashita and Taira, 2016). Leading out effective
planning and make use of a clear tone and proper body language along with significant level of
confidence are vital ways to make a presentation successful through keeping a check and control
on nerve and vulnerable to cater attention of audience and present a topic and concept in a more
professional way (Liu, 2019).

CONCLUSION
On the basis of above portfolio a conclusion can be made out that note taking is vital to keep
records and information for further purpose and future revision of information. The concept of
plagiarism is mainly associated and related with copying and stealing of someone work thus,
proper referencing and paraphrasing of work is needed along with collection of data only from a
reliable sources of information. At last, a summarisation can be made that presentation skills are
vital to convey a message in more attractive and professional way.
