Week 1: Adaptive Business Analysis
Adaptive Business Analysis
The employers are searching people with an adaptive nature and critical thinking abilities
which can prove to be beneficial for the organizations in generating a culture of collaboration,
creation and innovation. It is helpful for a particular organization as it leverages to compete even
in the complex organizational context (Triagile.com 2019). In the first week, the activities and
responsibilities of the adaptive business analyst have been described. The main content of this
week was to describe that the development begins from the ornate and it is how the world of
business is changing. Hence, the business should be dynamic because a sudden change is
difficult to predict and the financial aspect are completely unknown. A particular project must be
more human oriented rather than process oriented as found from the video in YouTube.com
(2019). The project also requires strong communication and there should occur several meetings
between the active stakeholders to gather the public demands. There should be a continuous
feedback submission and communication among the stakeholders in case there is dynamic
change in a particular project.
Why the topic is chosen
This particular topic is chosen because the performance of a company can be improved
by using the agile methods when the conditions of the project are in jeopardy. It can be deduced
from YouTube.com (2019), that every level of the business, the business analyst must be
established for achieving an innovative culture along with the relevant skills of management. It
has also been described that the business analyst must not be an enabler or facilitator. There are
two different types of systems which can be followed such as the adaptive project management

and the adaptation to the extreme. It has to be kept in mind that every project is different from
each other and management techniques also need to be different.
Role of Agile business Analyst
According to the observation of mine, an agile business analyst’s role is similar to the
role of a product owner. The product owner is responsible for the management of product and
sprint backlog. The product owner deals with the customers and the stakeholders at the
beginning. Founded on the demands and requirements, the product owner makes use of the
stories in detail for creating detailed user story cards. However, the agile /adaptive
methodologies are difficult to implement in the true spirit.
Challenges faced by agile method
As the agile method is maturing in many organizations, there are some factors which can
pose significant challenge for the agile method. Firstly, everyone’s being on board is highly
important. Taken for example, some of the executives want the agile method without the
understanding of the required cultural changes and commitment in the organization. Among
them, some are highly agile but some are not (YouTube.com 2019). The agile method is
successfully adopted by the IT organizations but not by others. The mismatch of agility results in
mismatch of expectations. Secondly, the teams in the organizations are still fining difficulty in
planning management, measurement and other associated aspects.
Week 3: Business Analysis Perspectives
Business Analysis Perspectives
The topic of week 3 was the business analysis perspectives which helps the business
analysts to find themselves and provide value and insight into the specialized areas of business

analysis. It is supportive where the business analyst can offer the values. There can be different
perspectives with the structure of different methodologies, approaches and techniques. As found
from the lectures of Saboe (2019), can change the scope of the business analysis and leave
impact on the knowledge areas along with underlying competencies. The course work of the
third week also depicted the types of business analyst such as an architect who is responsible for
the business, process and data. The business analyst can be only an analyst who is related to the
system and a modeler too who is associated with the process and data. .
Why the topic is chosen
The topic is chosen because it is an integral part of the business analysis. The knowledge
of the business analysis perspectives can be helpful to me in getting a new job, a new project and
a new client too. It can also help me in my career transition and through this knowledge and
understanding I will be able to create a better business plan.
Information Technology
There are various types of perspective lens such as agile, business intelligence,
information technology and business architecture and business process management. The
information technology is a sample predictive approach which functions as a primary liaison
between the technical teams and the business group users. The outcomes of the information
technology are based on the solution development life cycle requirements. It uses the cases and,
the analysis results and various scope models. According to Vimeo.com (2019), business
architecture helps to provide an understandable view of the whole enterprise from an
organizational context. It further helps to support the group as a strategic advisor in making
decisions related to the changes in the enterprise.

Business Architecture
The solution architect can use the business architecture to understand the interconnection
between the architectural layers and make recommendations. The business outcomes of the
business architecture are the alignment maps, the blueprints and the architectural views. On the
contrary the business process management consists of the process identification, process
discovery, process analysis, process redesign, process implementation and process monitoring
and controlling (Saboe, 2019). It is mainly used by a process analyst who has undergone a
continuous responsibility for modelling along with the business process optimization. The
outcomes of this business analysis perspective are the business models and the associated rules.
It is also the performance measures and the business decisions.
Week 4: Stakeholders analysis and management
Stakeholder analysis and management
The focus of week 4 was entirely on the stakeholder analysis. In a given project, the
stakeholders are the organizations or the individuals which are positively involved in the
operations of the project. The lectures if the fourth week suggested that the stakeholders’
interests might be affected by a project execution or the completion of a project. It also
described that the stakeholder’s consideration and analysis is necessary for achieving the goals of
the project and support to the success. According to Managers.org.uk (2019), the identification
of the stakeholders is highly important or succeeding in a particular project. The stakeholder
analysis also involves the different needs of the stakeholders. The aim is to analyze the process
in order to develop a strategic view of the institutional and human landscape. Another purpose is

to analyze the relationship between the various stakeholders and issues which are cared about the
most.
Why the topic is chosen
The topic concerning stakeholder analysis is extremely important in a business enterprise.
The stakeholder analysis helps to identify the potential issues which could disrupt the project and
the interests of the stakeholders too. It facilitates the reduction of potential misunderstandings.
The stakeholder theory suggests that the stakeholders’ interests must be taken into
considerations. This approach is supportive to the organizations in succeeding the business and
fulfilling the interests of the stakeholders. It is also chosen because in my future endeavors, I will
be able to ensure that the stakeholder relationships are managed properly. I have understood that
the customer communications help in creating a strong position when the customers are making
their purchasing decisions.
The steps to stakeholder management
The value of the organization can be enhanced focusing in the stakeholder relationship
management. As found from Pmi.org (2019), there are plenty of methods used for the
stakeholder management. The techniques are gathering information, identifying the stakeholder
groups, mapping the stakeholders, being specific, prioritizing the stakeholder, understanding
them, developing strategies for action, communicating the with the stakeholders and monitoring
their feedbacks. The stakeholder management is a crucial component for the successful
completion of a project, a program and an activity. In short there are four steps in the
stakeholder management. It starts with the identification, recognition and acknowledgment of the
stakeholders.

The communication management plan
It determines the influence and interest of them and at the same time establishes a
communication management plan for influencing and engaging with the stakeholders
(YouTube.com 2019). In this regard it has also been described that the stakeholder engagement
and communication can be achieved by a wide variety of channels founded on the stakeholders.
The channels are the status meetings, the change logs, the board meeting updates, the steering
committee, videos, email updates status reports and many others.
Week 7: Facilitation and Elicitation
Facilitation and Elicitation
Week 7 covered the core definition and significance of the facilitation and elicitation. The
week began with defining the term “facilitation”. It described that facilitation is the skill of
supervising the discussion in a particular group with the aim of ensuring that the participants
communicate their views and appreciate others views too by carefully listening to them. The
activity of facilitation requires special skills, efforts and experiences and it is not exclusive of the
business analyst. As suggested in Learning.pmi.org (2019), it is essential for them because of
their responsibility to manage the requirement elicitation workshops and meetings too. The
stakeholders are defined in a better way by effective facilitation and their requirements are
discovered easily. It has been elaborated that there are five effective techniques of business
facilitation. The application of the business analysis techniques is helpful in improving the
facilitation. The techniques are the brainstorming, the mind maps, the root cause analysis and
others.

The topic is chosen because the techniques are supportive to the business analysts who
can ask their right questions, actively engage the participants and prevent boredom and help the
participants to think outside of the box. The management of the distraction is equally important
and must control the conversations from going out of the track. Elicitation on the other hand, is
the discovery of the requirements of a set of customers, the employees or the other stakeholders
(YouTube.com 2019). The topic is also chosen because it will help me to gather information from
the important stakeholders regarding the product/service of the organization where I will belong.
Requirement Gathering
This practice is sometimes called the “requirement gathering”. The elicitation consists of
the workshops, questionnaires, interviews, user observations, role playing, prototyping and
brainstorming. It can rather be called a data collection technique that is used in cognitive science,
anthropology, management, psychology, philosophy and other fields from where knowledge can
be gathered (YouTube.com 2019). Through the knowledge of elicitation, the data collected by the
interviews, prototyping and other methods are much reliable that the data collected from simply
asking for feedback.
Connection with the Business Analyst
The activity of facilitation requires special skills, efforts and experiences and it is not
exclusive of the business analyst. It is essential for them because of their responsibility to
manage the requirement elicitation workshops and meetings too. The stakeholders are defined in
a better way by effective facilitation and their requirements are discovered easily. The
icebreakers are used particularly to ensure that the participant are opening up properly and

contributing actively to the discussions. The non-verbal cues when paid proper attention can
become rich source of information. The time management is highly necessary in the facilitation.
It shows that the participants are capable of handling their own affairs.
Week 9: Analysis and Evaluation
Analysis and Evaluation
The discussion of week 9 was entirely based on the importance of analysis and evaluation
in business. The week’s topic demonstrated that the record of the result at the end of a project to
determine whether it passed or failed should not be the case. In a particular organization,
evaluation must be promoted and facilitated as a continuous learning process which improves the
effectiveness of the organization as a whole as found in Timwoods.org (2019). Those
organizations are the ideal ones which can easily demonstrate the results and the achievements.
The good management is a sign of good decision making which in turn depends on good
information. These are the crucial components of evaluation.

The topic is an essential part of every enterprise. The analysis and evaluation in the
business is important because it helps to evaluate the critical impacts of an interruption to the
critical operations in the business, any accident, any disaster or any emergency. It is important
for analysing the risk, in an organization. It is an important component in the business
continuance plan of an organization. The program evaluation when conducted on a regular basis
can visibly improve the effectiveness of an organization and the operations as suggested in the
video extracted from YouTube.com (2019). However, it requires proper understanding of the
differences between what is called monitoring and wat is called evaluation. The managers at

different levels of the organizations are required to make analysis and evaluation an integral part
of the program planning and implementation.
How it impacts the business
The Business Analysis increases the return on investment or the ROI of the business.
Everything in the business organization are interrelated and it has been also highlighted that the
sales efforts of a company to resolve the business problems starts with the definition of defining,
analysing and documenting the requirements. The business needs can be easily fulfilled by
managing the requirements at the project level (Heflo.com 2019).. The entire operation of
evaluating and analysing is conducted by the business analyst. The course has been highly
beneficial for me and I am looking forward to apply the knowledge in my future endeavors.
User Requirement Analysis
Regarding the importance of evaluation and analysis, it has been found that business
analysis involves the definition and documentation of the user requirements, the test and
development of the technology systems and navigating through the bureaucracies of the
organization. The larger companies might assign the business analyst to work along with the
project managers. However, in the small businesses the project managers might have to take on
the responsibilities of business analysts.
