Commentary
In order to improve the safety culture in the organization, I adopted different levels of
activities to meet the criterion. At the first level I started emerging the need for safety culture
in the organization. The next level was to manage the employers to understand the need. The
next step was to engage all the employees to participate in promotional activities of safety
culture. Co-operation can be asked from department heads to engage all their employees and
the final step was to consistently develop policies and comply with those.
As a Healthcare Manager, my professional objectives were to promote safety and healthy
working environment within the organization by effectively controlling the risks involved. I tried
to create a positive attitude towards managing the risks and complying with the control
processes.
My approach was to gather relevant information about safety policies available in the
organization and if the employees are aware of them. My intention was to know if employees
are willing to participate in the promotional activities and understand their mistakes they have
been committing related to safety and if the organization is necessary measures.

1. I identified the assessment of the present safety culture of the organization.
2. In order to make demonstrate a certain degree in leadership in health and safety, my
commitment was to stay connected with the workforce and gain relevant information
from them.
3. I intended to understand the knowledge employees have about maintaining safety
and health by way of a presentation and received their feedback.
4. I conducted a culture change program for the senior management to make them
understand the importance of communicating the need for changes.

1. I ascertained that employees are unaware of the safety measures within the
organization.
2. I collected information of employees from HR and departmental heads to conduct the
induction.
3. I communicated with the department heads to understand their knowledge on policies
for safety. The managers were aware of the policies but required to use them in case
of any accident within the organization.
4. The feedback received from employees reflected that they need to be educated to
follow safety procedures.
5. I felt that the senior management showed resistance towards any changes in the
organization.
The strength of my approach was that I received quick responses from employees and they
provided honest feedbacks. The only weakness is the resistance to adopt changes that
promote a positive safety culture. As we know a safer and healthier working environments
help in uplifting overall organizational productivity, fundamental changes are required to
improve the conditions.
