1.0 Introduction
The members present in the Commonwealth countries try to provide full value for the
international trades which is considered to be a powerful way of gaining social and economic
progress. The Commonwealth countries have a diverse membership and they advocate
themselves within the global trading system which helps in ensuring effective participation of
countries from various parts of the world and mostly the countries that are least developed.
According to the research it has been found that there has been a fundamental change that took
place in the global trade. This significant transformation resulted in influencing the direction of
the trading system thereby enhancing the competitive and comparative advantage of the
Commonwealth countries.
The lists of key trends that are present in trade regarding goods and services among the
Commonwealth countries includes total intra-Commonwealth trading, intra-Commonwealth
trading in goods, and intra-Commonwealth trade in services. In the research, it has been found
that the intra-Commonwealth trade has become substantial in nature and this kind of trade is
growing in a rapid manner. In the year 2013, it has been found that the overall value of services
and goods that are being traded between the Commonwealth member countries was around $592.
It has been estimated that the volume of this trade is going to become $687 billion in the year
2015 and the projected growth may exceed to $1 trillion by the year 2020. The intra-
Commonwealth trade related to goods had been estimated to be $525 billion in the year 2015.
According to the research, it has also been identified that the intra-Commonwealth exports
related to services have been valued at $139 billion in the year 2013.
