Introduction
Aging is a natural process of living things getting older, as the ability of an individual’s cells to replicate and
multiply becomes weak with time. Aging is a serious contemporary healthcare issue that is highly relevant to the older
populations of Australia. Aging presents several issues to the older population of Australia.
Impact of Age on the Older Population in Australia
Age has a critically severe impact on the older population’s physical and mental health, wellbeing in Australia
as it is such a complex process with the impact of age being quite diverse on the older population in Australia. The most
major impact that age has on the older populations of Australia relates to the weakening of the immune system of older
Australian people, as with time they come to age. This has a direct negative impact on their physical and mental health
as a weakened immune system results in the older Australian population being increasingly susceptive to the various
diseases, viruses and infections that are always highly problematic and worrying to their physical and mental wellbeing.
Implications For Practice For All Individuals Working with Older People
There are highly positive implications for practice for all individuals
who are working with older people of Australia. Practising working with
older people of Australia has the positive implication of making them feel
valued, respected and needed in the world for their experience, which is
something that not many older people come to feel in today’s digital world
as families especially in the western part of the world continue to distance
themselves and older people has pushed to social organisations such as old
age homes, making them feel unvalued and disrespected.
Conclusion
Through the findings of this poster, it can effectively be
concluded that aging is a serious contemporary healthcare issue
for the older populations of Australia. This poster assesses the
various issues and challenges that aging process has on the older
population of Australia. The poster also assesses implications of
practice for all others working with older people.
