INTRODUCTION Postpartum refers baby blues after childbirth which includes mood swings, anxiety and difficulties in sleeping. All these problems are being faced by mother after giving birth to a baby and it begins mainly after the first 2 to 3 days after delivery and last for 2 weeks. But some moms face severe depression which lasts for long run and it is mainly known as postpartum depression. This present study is based on London, Newham Borough in order to identify the extent to which this problem is being faced by mothers after delivery and several other effects which it has on their health. This study will discuss some symptoms by which it becomes easier to identify the extent of the disease as it is a long lasting and for short term along with effects which it has on health on mother.
Local urbanity, demographic and key health problems in Newham â˘The London Borough of Newham is a London Borough which is created in the year of 1965 as its main aim is to progress with the people. Before discussing about health problems in this area it is important to understand lifestyle of people, health and religion. This Borough has the 2ndhighest % of Muslims in the UK and in the context of life expectancy it is stated that in the year of 2018 it was stated the lowest life expectancy as well as highest rate of heart disease. In the regards to key health problems in London , UK rural urban status has been found to be associated with behavioural and emotional problems in children. Depression and anxiety affects up to 20% of the women after delivery. So, it can be said that by recommending some strategies and ways to all stakeholders rate of postpartum depression can be decreased and improve overall health of infant and women. There are different recommendations for different stakeholders which include: â˘Government:Government plays an important roe because it is the one who develops and makes policies regarding health and includes some rules and guidelines which help professionals in providing better health to women. So, it can be recommended for more improvements that they need to build in Newhamâs legacy for inclusion that have detailed informationâs about postpartum depression and complications if any women have in their pregnancy (Anokye and et.al., 2018).
Cont⌠â˘Institutions:To all institutions who provides healthcare to women and infant it can be recommended that they should make and develop 5 year strategy around different types of needs which women require as per the intensity of their problems. All staff of these institutions should focus on looking at actual data as well as progression rate. It can help them out in understanding effectiveness of strategies and policies as actually they are working effectively or require more improvements. They also require acting as a system champion by focusing on mainly driving up health outcomes. By identifying effective pathways with some common and appropriate approaches they can develop better interventions which can help women in reducing depression (PoyatosâLeĂłn and et.al., 2017). â˘Family members:Family members also play an important role as they are the one who interact with women and can take responsibility of taking care of infant. By providing special treatments and care to women, family members can make them feel valued and encouraged. When women are feeling valued and pleased then it directly helps them out in being healthy and improving health. So, it can be recommended to all family members of pregnant women that they should providing better treatments and care to both mother and their babies.
