Potential Threat of Irish Nation- Autism Spectrum Disorder
Preamble:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disability that impacts not only
individual but also the family of the affected person. Generally, Autism
Spectrum Disorder is the neurobehavioral problem that significantly leads
to mental disability. Autism is a developmental disorder in a person to
affects the basic understanding capacity of society and others. It affects
social interaction, personal and social communication, thinking capacity
and imagination. Autism causes partial or permanent damage called
“Triad of Impairments”
As per 2016 report of Irish society for Autism recorded that out of 100
people one gets disturbed in developmental disorder. The National Council
for Special Education in Ireland diagnosed and noted that 1 person among
65 children or 1.5% of the school-going population suffering from Autism
Spectrum Disorder. So, the statistical report alarms the Ireland
government on rehabilitation, control measures and so on. This research
is inevitable to understand better the social issues as per future
perspective and well being of the society and nation of Ireland at large.
1. Introduction
Autism Spectrum Disorder considered as a complex form of
neurodevelopment disorder. It is found as difficulties in typical verbal and
non-verbal social communication. The major limitation of Autism Spectrum
Disorder restricts the victim to participate in social connections. The
victim of ASD faces the issues right from the childhood and remains
forever (Hoefman et al. 2014). Autism affected level measured based on
potential level merely associated with symptoms. As per Irish Society of
Autism report, larger diversity of Irish population diagnosed as ASD
presence which is having a significant impact in learning and social
connections.

In fact, Autism crumbles the future generation of Ireland. Wide range of
young individuals identified in severe learning disabilities. The Autism and
Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network of Ireland record that one-
third population of children diagnosed with intellectual disability due to
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is roughly around 50% of the total
population. So, ASD needs to be addressed in Ireland for healthy and
nurturing society in future (Keenan et al. 2015).
1.1 Classification of ASD disabilities:
The Autism Spectrum Disabilities used to call as “Triad of Difficulties”.
Classified difficulties listed as
1.1.1. Problems in Social connections and developments:
ASD affected individual used to face problems in interpersonal
developments and different or delayed social connections and
developments. The level of impact may vary from Autistic-Aloofness to
Odd active characteristics (Libero et al. 2015).
1.1.2. The problem in Communication:
The individual affected with ASD diagnosed with semantic and languages
pragmatic aspects of language and communication either verbally or
nonverbal.
1.1.3. Poor response inflexible thinking and behaviour:
Extreme delay in response, rigid thought process and ritualistic behaviour
of an individual could relate to ASD. More Youngsters, adults and Children
affected with ASD either with more sensitiveness or very poor in it. Autism
Spectrum Disabilities under 3 years age group children called Childhood
Autism. The range of affected category under 3 years age group noted
approximately 30%. The child diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder
persists as ‘autistic’ in the entire lifespan (King et al. 2014).
1.2 Common Existence of Disability:
The common disabilities found in ASD listed as below
a. Language Developmental Impairments

b. General Learning issues
c. Trauma Developmental and affection issues
d. Major or Significant Anxiety Issues
e. Intellectual disorder and difficulties
f. Ritualistic Behaviour (Gaugler et al. 2014).
g. The problem in social interaction and communication
h. Obstacles in physical growth in some cases
i. The problem in Coordination of eye, hand, other body parts and physical
disorientations in some cases (Emerson et al. 2014).
j. Poor understanding capacity
k. Mood swing and mental disorientations
l. Lack of eye contact with communicator
m. Patients used to have a narrow interest or intense interest in limited
topics
n. Rephrase or repeat the action or similar words
o. Problems in speech, motions, facial expressions, sounds or voice tone
p. A severe problem in adapting usual routines
1.3 Different Definition of Disability:
An individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) defines,
“developmental disability affects the verbal and non-verbal
communication and social interactions”. The federal definitions points,”
Autism is the repetition of activity in which the affected person repeats
the action, the resistance of environmental changes or change in regular
routines and abnormal sensory experiences”.The NICHCY National
Dissemination Centre for Children with Disabilities defines, “autism is
gaining momentum of mental disability”.
The terms associated and subcategorised as Autism, Rett Syndrome,
Asperger Syndrome, Pervasive Development Disorder, and Autistic
Disorder and Disintegrative disorder in childhood. Each of these
subcategories is having its unique and typical characteristics of mental,
physical and psychological influences.
1.3a Asperger’s Syndrome:

According to Asperger’s Syndrome, the influenced children might not have
any issues in language; likewise, they don’t have any problem in
intelligence test as well. But the children affected with Asperger’s
syndrome have strong social problems and differential scope of interest
(Lorenz, and Heinitz, 2014).
1,3b Autistic Disorder:
The Autistic Disorder refers to the problem in social interaction and
communication; the major age group would be younger than 3 years of
age (Sanders et al. 2015).
1.3c Childhood disintegrative Disorder:
Generally, this sort of children might have no problem in development in
the first two years from they have born. Post 2 years of tenure the
influenced and lose many social skills and communication skills (Patel, and
Samani, 2018)
1.3d Pervasive Development Disorder:
The physician might use this term Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD)
if they have found any traces in the child such as autistic behaviour
considerably poor social interactions and connections (Brennan et al. 2015).
1.4 Modelling of Disabilities
Basically, Model of disability is a tool to define the type of impairment in
which the government, society, and individual plans the need of an
affected person in society. It is a framework to understand the disability
issues, alongside it aids in generating a system and apply the treatment
of disability in a systematic method through meticulous models (Bakan,
2016) The models of disability describe the insights of disabilities,
conceptions and focal points. Models of disability emphasise the two
major practical focal points. Firstly, disabled personalities are dependent
upon society. Secondly, Model of disability perceives the disabled
