INTRODUCTION
Personal development is about enhancing own skills and knowledge in order to ensure
success and growth in future period of time. It allows an individual to constantly engage in
enrichment so that pre-defined goals can be attained successfully. In current time, personal
development is really important to get a good employment and ensure future success. This
provides opportunity to individuals to enhance their knowledge & capabilities in order to
perform assigned work with greater efficiency. Additionally, personal development focuses of on
personality development and skill enhancement so that a person can attain milestones in an
efficient manner. It improves the self awareness and makes a person enable to perform the work
in their best capacity. On other side, professional development is associated with improving
employability skills which make a person capable enough to perform better at work place. It is
related with enhancing job related skills such as communication, leadership, presentation, team
work and more (Hildebrand, 2018). Professional development helps a person in setting unique
identity at work place. Main aim of the present study is to understand the different aspects of
personal as well as professional development. It will cover a PDP plan that is prepared to
identify strengths and weaknesses of a person. Further, It will include a detailed assessment of
own strengths and weakness in order to identify the scope of improvement. Additionally,
continuous professional development plan will also include in the following report. At end, it
will cover numerous employability skills which have been gained throughout the academic
course along with their significance at workplace.
Main Body
Goal Setting
Goals provided direction to a person in order to get success in life. Goal setting is a
complete process that plays a crucial role in keeping a person motivated and inspired. In
addition, it also helps in assessing the own progress efficiently. Here, the process required
consistency, concentration, commitment and dedication. In current time, goal setting is really
important as it helps in making efficient use of time and efforts. If a person does not familiar
with the objectives, it can become a reason of stress & anxiety in future period of time. Without

goals, it is not possible to attain success in life. Goals keep a person motivated and inspire to put
significant efforts in order to realize those goals. It brings consistency and discipline in life that
is important to get success and growth (Davies, Curtin and Robson, 2017). I have been set a
particular goal of myself and used the approach called Smart goals. My goal is to secure a higher
position in one of the prestigious and renowned company. The smart approach, I used for my
goal setting is described below:
Specific: It is the first step of goal setting process as per which goal need to be specific.
While setting the goals, one needs to consider clarity in goals in order to avoid ambiguity.
Measurable: The goals need to be measurable. Here, it is important to set some specific
criteria’s so that the progress towards the goal can be easily measured (Howard and
EddyImishue, 2020).
Achievable: While setting the goal, it is important to consider the achievability. As per
this element, goals need to be attainable. It needs to be structured as per the capabilities
and skills of individual.
Realistic: This element states that there is requirement of relevancy of goals with life
progress. Goals need to be formulated on realistic background.
Time bound: There is requirement to determine a particular time for goal attainment. It
is important in order to maintain consistency in efforts of the person (Trorey and
Cullingford, 2017).
Reflection model
Reflection model is designed so that a person can analyze own performance and
experienced gained through the life. With the reflection model a person can easily assess own
personal and professional development significantly. I personally prefer the reflection model to
analyze my performance in an efficient manner. In this context, Kolb reflection model is
explained below:
Concrete experience: It is the first stage of model that focuses on personal involvement.
Here, the emphasis is on emotions and feelings rather than the systematic approach. In this,
people try to resolve the issue through emotions. It is required to implement the systematic
approach so that the issue can be resolved in an efficient manner (von Suchodoletz and et. al.,

2018) . I prepare a detailed description which is based on my past experience. I will use my past
experience to deal with the future situations in an effective manner.
Reflective observation: In this, individual reflect the past experience in order to face the
future situations effectively. Reflective observation helps in analyzing own performance so that
one can attain success in future period of time. I have faced different situations in my life. Here, I
used my past performance and experience to monitor my progress effectively.
Abstract conceptualization: It is one of the crucial stages of Kolb reflection model. In
this, one looks for the better way to address the situation. With this, one can easily face the
situation when the same situation will occur in future period of time. Here, one can also consult
from others in order to resolve the issue effectively ( Morozova and Kuzheleva, 2020). I
analyzed how I performed in past so that I can handle the situation appropriately when it will
occur in future time. It will improve my capability to handle different future situations.
Active experimentation: It is the final step wherein the ideas are implemented in real
context. In this, firstly individuals conduct self analysis, formulate effective strategies and then
implement those strategies in reality (Rughani and et. al., 2017). I analyze my performance and
formulate as well as implement suitable ways in order to facilitate improvements in future period
of time.
Personal SWOT analysis
Personal SWOT analysis is a tool which makes a person enable to analyze own strengths
and weaknesses. Each and every person has certain strengths as well as weak points which
further affect their performance significantly. To get success in career, it is imperative to
undertake personal analysis so that one can get to know about their own capabilities and
weaknesses (Lim, 2018). In this context, my personal SWOT analysis is given below:

It is a document that is prepared for future growth and success. The plan is based on
personal analysis wherein one first analyze own performance in order to identify the scope of
future improvement. In this, one identifies weaknesses and then takes suitable steps to improve
the performance. Along with the development strategies, the PDP also includes time period to

develop suitable skills and knowledge in order to improve employment capabilities. In addition,
PDP Plan outlines goals, objectives and the areas of improvement. This plan also helps in
