PRACTICUM PROJECT PLAN
Reflecting on the Practicum project
The project reflects on the communication problems that are faced in the nursing
profession. The project focuses on five communication problems and the importance of hand-
off communication that helps in addressing the problems of my health organisation as well as
of health organisation with national problems. The expected outcome of the project is to find
out solutions that can help in improving the level of communication that exists in the
healthcare sectors. The implication of the project can be put in nursing practices such as
during surgeries, hygiene and medical errors.
Identifying target audience
The target audience of the project includes the nurses and other medical practitioners
that serve the hospital sector. The fact that communication is an important part of the
practicum project is an important factor for most medical practitioners. The interest parties
can be the managers of the hospitals as it is the ultimate duty of the managers to ensure that
the best method of treatment is provided to the people. Hence, the managers can benefit the
most from this report. The needs of an audience can help in understanding the proper method
required for the dissemination of the project.
Identifying method of chosen dissemination
In order to reach the target audience, it is necessary to select a dissemination technique in a
strategic manner. The advantages of these techniques need to be analysed in order to identify
the suitable method. According to Forsyth et al., (2010), presentation helps in conveying
thoughts of an individual directly. However, a long presentation can get an audience to lose
focus. Posters help in the depiction of the message in a colourful manner. It is to be kept in
mind that the poster contains all necessary information related to the topic. Publication helps

in making the topic famous among people around the world. However, the cost of publication
is high (Alspach, 2010). For the purpose of this research, it is necessary to consider the
dissemination method of presentation.
Considering appropriate organisation for nursing
In order to understand the select an organisation that can be beneficial for the
dissemination purpose, it is necessary to select a proper organisation in which the
presentation can be given. I had chosen Good Samaritan Hospital located in Illinois. For
understanding the leadership of nurses, the article written by Hutchinson & Jackson (2013)
on leadership and nursing have been selected. Thus, this can help in making the presentation
stronger and effective among the people.
Evaluating potential challenges
The challenges that may be faced while delivering the presentation includes the loss
of focus of the people. This may happen due if the presentation is long and consist of only
theoretical aspects of the topic (Vasilakos et al., 2015). In order to promote the possibility of
gaining approval of the presentation method, it is necessary to draw the interest of the nurses
on presentation. This can be done by involving the nurses and asking for their opinion about
the communication factors that require being included n the presentation.
